The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

Pics
We shipped our Splash Orpington bantam male to Kentucky last week. A youth had some Black Orpington Bantam hens and lost her only male. We may all want to keep an eye on a youth from Philpot, Kentucky. Could be some tough competition in a year or so.

Jim, go ahead and tell the folks who bred that splash guy.

I got a call from a good friend in Texas and he said that Buff Orp did get DQ at Shawnee, I'm sorry I was wrong. It never happened in the open show, it was the junior show. I didn't keep up with junior show back then. The only ABA show that I ever went to in Oklahoma was at Claremore, I had just got bantam orps then and didn't show any. I know Ralph didn't make that show and Mr. Buff Orp Bantam was there and won, Roger Vanderpolgee (sp), in the standard Herting won BB on a pullet and my 2 nd pullet was RB. Roger is the only person to get a Master on buff orps only. That can be checked in the ABA records. I was lucky and got to buy 2 pair from him the next year. I crossed them on my Warren Tye birds. All of my start of orp bantams came from Warren.

Folks, please remember, the first rule of BYC is, "Be friendly and courteous to all members at all times."

My choc bantams don't need to bred down for size, I think they are way small. I kind of wish they were a bit larger. I may show one in the fall if there feathers look worth anything since they have been in molt. I am not trying to raise bantams just keep the gene for my LF project. The little girls just keep hatching a few all along. They are mighty sweet birds.
