Edited, the baby was bashing on the keyboard when I went to go get him some milk.

she is a brahma or delaware mix, probably under a poroduction roo. I got her from a lady who sells chicks year round on CL. Those are her most common breeds.

Well I don't know if this falls strictly within the cagegory, but this is what I got at 7am this morning.
The larger, dark egg is from my cukoo Marans and, although not huge, is a pretty fair sized egg.
The other is from Abby Brewster, my golden laced wyandotte bantam. This is the first one after the winter

I absolutely love Mystery. I spent the better part of the afternoon out in the yard with my standards today, and I try to always have my camera with me when I do, lol.

And he has come to learn that when mommy has the "flashy box", he gets treats and attention, and of course, told how handsome he is. So he has learned to stop and pose for pictures. I got some absolutely beautiful ones of him and the girls. He is such a good boy. As far as I know, Marans don't come in Bantam size, but they are wonderful birds nonetheless. I didn't expect him to get as big as he has, but I love him, and my kids love him. For a bird that big to just let my kid grab him a squeeze him tight and kiss him, he HAS to be a good bird! My Wyandottes are more standoffish, but that's ok. My Sexlinks eat up the attention, and one of my two Welsummer mixed hens has decided finally that we really aren't all that scary, and we always bring yummy treats, so she is approaching us with less and less fear, and not running away nearly as much as she did when I got her and some of my other birds as 8 week old chicks. She follows my daughter around now and watches her find treats in the grass, and waits to have them offered to her, lol. When I first set out to get chickens, I looked at my neighbor's standards and I was overwhelmed by their size. I found them a little on the scary side, so I intended to get only Bantams. Until I saw a flyer for TSC's chick days, and I laid eyes on the Silver Laced Wyandottes. I thought they were beautiful, so I looked them up on the website of the place I was planning to get my chicks from, and the big website pictures showed how truly beautiful they were, and though they were standard, I had to have some. After my chicks arrived, and I was turning out to have more roos than I wanted (had no choice but to order straight run), I had another BYC'er contact me. She wanted some of my Bantam Cochins, and she offered to trade me some of her chicks. So my kids and I went out to her farm, and she had a massive brooder in her basement, with well over 70 chicks in it. We decided on an even exchange, so I let my kids pick what they wanted. She didn't have Bantams, but she had some interesting looking chicks, and my kids were instantly in love. My younger daughter wanted blue egg layers, so she picked out Twinkle and Sprinkle, who later proved to be Welsummer crosses, and one lays brown, and one lays pink, she picked out a Turken who turned out to be a roo, and a black chick that we were told was either a Jersey Giant, or a Black Australorp. Lucky for us, she turned out to be a BA! And a hen! We were also asked if we wanted a Golden Laced Wyandotte, and for the last chick I got to choose, and I saw this little white chick with soft black stripes, a pink comb and legs, and blue eyes, and I HAD to have it. That turned out to be my boy Mystery. He was the most AMAZING looking chick, and for awhile I did consider rehoming him and some of my other roos because I had A LOT of roos, but of the ones I did rehome, he was not one of them. I still have 3 more Bantam roos to rehome, but Mystery isn't going anywhere. My intention is to get some Marans hens and another Marans roo, and a few Speckled Sussex, and that will be my standard flock. I think that watching my standards grow up really helped me adjust to their full size once they finally were done growing. I'm not afraid or intimidated by them anymore, and I absolutely love each and every one of them. But good luck in whatever you choose to get. I know you'll be happy with whatever you choose!
