Hey guys!
Well, the homemade Styro-Bator is about finished! Today, I bought a temperature digital meter with a probe, and a humidity meter. I got them both at PETCO for $13.
I also got a pic frame from mom for Christmas for the bator's window! yay! Now all i have to do is add these last things and it's good to go. i will be testing it this Spring.

Can't wait!
So around.....March or June we will be started up the bator and collecting eggs from our hens to hatch!(Red Stars X RIR, and Buff Orpington X Splash Cochin) should be interesting to see what type of chicks we get.

Just wanted to update you guys on the bator; I will post pics of it hopefully next week!
Thanks for reading!

P.S. I am going to make a homemade water wiggler also, by using a Ziplock bag, filling it with water, folding it over, and sticking the probe into the fold.

( I cant deal with that kind of let down again )

GOOD LUCK, GOOD LUCK, GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!

Before you put any eggs in the great sounding bator, do 3 or 4 dry runs. By this I mean, put a lot of zip lock bags of water in the bator and let it heat up. Test the humidity and the temperture for a week. By doing this you will see how the bator holds the humidity and temp when it is full. The bags replace the eggs. Over the tests you will be able to see any little quirks the bator might have. Good luck and hatch a bunch. Don't know what you did with the other bator, but try using it for a hatcher.

Thanks! that's a great idea!!!
well i kinda threw the other "bator" away.

It wouldn't have made a good hatcher or bator anyway! It was small and when i started building it, i didn't have really a good clue of what i was doing; just wanted to hatch out my own eggs!!!

LOL but i think i may try hatching without using a hatcher at first. i don't see why i couldn't just hatch in the bator, too.
