Ok we gotta liven this little thread up yall!
So here's an old woman looking for her 7 wk old baby cochins in the dark with her DH headlight on...nevermind the gown and trampstamp shining through (oh Lord help her!) Or the fact she can barely maneuver the crouching down as she searches for said chicks!
What ya wanna keep your eyes peeled out for is in the upper right hand corner of the video...I'm telling ya this chick could not have found a more difficult spot to get into!!! Unless of course it was underneath the coop in those rafters!
oh that naughty chick.
just peeping it's head out when her back was turned to check if she was coming his/her direction!
guess he's gonna' get some coal in his stocking...

It took me forever to spot her! Are ya gonna name it Peek-a-boo?
Oh I name mine the first week or so...her name is China and her brother is Coco!
My grandsons luv these two boogers!

I stayed out there late last night trying to work with them to sleep in the big coop on the roost bars. Nope....not happening. She was determined to go back to the rafters!

Idk why none of my chickens will sleep in the coop!?!
Winter is just around the corner and they won't be able to continue sleeping on the coop porch! Idk what to do bout em. 😕

I'm guessing you'll find it easier to convince them once the weather cools. It's probably just a nicer temp on the porch right now.

We've been working on integrating the frizzles' group outside lately so that we can move the big bantam group out in the cage that the frizzles are in. But, of course, the bantams had to get coccidiosis so now we'll have to wait to move them out. This batch of chicks has literally been one of the hardest batches we've had.
I get it. My blue batch had Cocci, and now they have dry fowl pox, and I'm pretty sure my adults have Cocci.

It sounds like it's been a tough year all around for a lot of us. I also had a bout of coccidiosis in my babies this summer, one of my cockerels had a leg injury and almost died from not being able to walk to get to food and water, and I, too, had an unfortunately high number of cockerels hatch. 😔 Hopefully next year treats us all a little better! :fl

How are your bantams doin?
