She loves her chickies and is so happy this bantam group is super friendly. The ones that aren’t handled in the brooder are always the friendliest for us 🤔 Dotty and mystery chick were the victims of cuddles today lol

She looks like a spunky gal for sure! 🤭 Sounds like you'll be seeing eggs before too much longer from her!

One of my 5 month olds surprised me by going into lay at the end of August. :th Never had one from that line lay before about 7 and a half months of age until her! (It was super hot the day I took this picture so she was panting hard, poor girl.)

I'm thinking I'll be getting eggs soon as well. Her comb has been pinkish-red for a while, but it wasn't until yesterday I noticed just how much bigger it's gotten. All of the original hens- 2/3 of which could be her mother- were super late layers. I think they were 10 months old before I got the first egg. It seems a steady trend though that their offspring are outperforming them(cockerels are maturing quicker than their father, as well.) I'm hoping for an egg soon 🤞 I'd be delighted to have birds laying sooner than that.

I can definitely relate to hot days. Poor girl. Florida's summer has been completely unbearable this year, scorching hot every single day. Everyone fared well through it though, luckily, and I did not suffer any heat losses- even from the stockier, fluffier birds.

Freaking love this red pullet I hatched. She hates me, but she’s the cutest thing I've hatched on my farm, and I love how fluffy she is. Not perfect by any means, but still pretty. A february hatch so she’s between 6-7 months old. Her comb has just been getting bigger and bigger as well.
Oh she’s quite lovely! 😍 that red color looks so pretty on fluffy chickens 🥰

I haven’t been here in awhile! Some new pics of my Cochin crew! 😍

Wow, that is really early!

My favorite end of season hatch chick! It‘s so light, it’s nearly buff, but it’s so cute.

It’s older sisters, who I got photos of. They’re such friendly birds. I prefer the dark red of this top pullet but I’ve barely hatched any with her color.
