Well she's supposed to be from good quality so idk...I have another girl from that same hatch in October that I kept but she hasn't started still.

Have yall ever seen a bantam cochin lay as early as 20 weeks?!

Mine didn't start laying until 10 months old or later. That's incredibly impressive!

Idk but I got.her on camera 2 days in a row and I saw the boys taking an interest in her few weeks ago which they normally don't do unless the are bout to begin laying. She was quite the willing participant. Lol

I hope it all goes well. BC roosters are notorious for picking fights with any size rooster.

I have totally experienced this! Two of my three bantam Cochin boys have zero fear and will take on any rooster—big or small! They can be feisty little butts! I will say though that they do seem to know when to quit and live peacefully until you remove a rooster for like 30 mins…haha.

My new bobtail girl started laying at 20ish weeks so it is possible! My other Cochins at the earliest were 7 months…but Miss Muddi is a laying machine right now! We get about 4 eggs/week from her and she’s seriously only 5.5 months. It’s quite shocking! I may try hatching a few before she turns into a broody machine like all the others though

Oh my gosh, Jellybean is so naughty! He’s been kicked out of so many pens and I’m about to put him in solitary since he’s such a turd to the ladies too. We cuddle him and he wears a harness, goes to school, but man he’s no one’s favourite friend in the yard lol

Jellybean sounds like he knows he’s the favorite and takes the ego too far with the ladies! Unless Ariana Sushi mellows out some, we may have finally found a rooster my daughter is willing to rehome. He’s going through a very spicy phase and she’s afraid of him. He doesn’t attack, just bites when you reach into the run. Our bantam Brahma went through this and is now wonderful boy…but Cochins are less mellow in general, so we will see how things go! He’s a really pretty boy, but I don’t need him for anything other than yard art. He isn’t a good choice for breeding due to a fair amount of leakage for a splash—but I personally think the added caramel coloring makes him even more pretty . I love that your roos name is Jellybean, it feels so suitable for a tiny spoiled Cochin
