The Biggest Little Rooster -- grandchickies on the way!!

CHAPTER 23- BIG SURPRISE!!!!
The biggest little rooster was very happy to see the Ladies free. He remembered their talk the other day, and didn’t try to snuggle right away. Instead, he just sat back and watched. The Ladies were enjoying the feel of cool grass under their feet. They were also enjoying the taste. The sun was shining down, making the Ladies feathers glisten. They were just so beautiful.
The biggest little rooster gave them a few minutes to forage for treats. He wanted to give them a little more time, but he couldn’t wait any longer. He needed snuggling. He grabbed one of the Ladies for some snuggle time. As soon as he was done snuggling, he went on a search to find good treats for his Ladies.
The day was going well. Sometimes all four Ladies followed the biggest little rooster, and sometimes just 1 or 2 followed. That was just fine with the biggest little rooster. He got to spend quality time with each of the Ladies. Because the Ladies were free, they had nothing to complain about. This made their time together happy and carefree.
Even though he was quite content to stay around the coop with the Ladies, the biggest little rooster was itching for adventure. When he was with the Ladies, he felt bigger and stronger, and was definitely braver. Once the Ladies were full of fresh grass and bugs, the biggest little rooster asked them if they wanted to go on a nice walk.
The walk started in the brush behind the coop. The bushes and trees had changed a bit since their last adventure. The brush seemed thinner. The biggest little rooster thought the trees were odd. They were molting, and it was getting cold. Seemed to be a silly time to molt. And people thought chickens were weird. HA.
They walked along the property edge, going silent for a moment in the spot where the big brown monster got the little girl. From there they walked to the front yard, stopping at the big bush for a little afternoon treat. The biggest little rooster helped scratch a good little indentation for the Ladies to dust in while he stood guard.
After the dust bath, the sun was getting a little lower in the sky, so the biggest little rooster and his harem ran to the older neighbors yard. They passed by the dog, stopping long enough to say hello and make the dog bark. They chased the neighbor’s cat, and then ran around the fourth neighbor’s fence.
There were fresh treats for them. The biggest little rooster did not understand why the humanlady got so upset when he was in this neighbors yard. After all, the neighbor left nice fresh cracked corn squirrel food treats for them. They must want to see the chickens if they leave treats!!
Soon it was getting dark, so the biggest little rooster headed back towards his coop. Two of the Ladies followed him, but the other two got themselves stuck inside the fence. Luckily, the humanlady came out and opened the gate for them. The little chickens were already in bed. The humanlady laughed as she looked in the window of the little coop.
The biggest little rooster walked the Ladies home. He actually walked them into their run. He found the food and called to the Ladies to fill their bellies before bed. As they ate, he poked his head into their coop. He thought it looked a lot like his coop.
It was getting a little dark now, and the biggest little rooster started running back and forth along the fence that connects the two runs. It seemed as if he was trying to get into his own run, but he knew where the gate was. The humanlady had shut the gate, with him inside. He really didn’t realize he was locked in though. He never went near the gate. Instead, he went up the little ramp, and into the coop.

It was dark in the coop, so he turned around and walked right back out.

The humanlady, who knew him better than anyone else, shined a flashlight into the coop. He followed one of the Ladies in, and slowly walked up the ramp. He was thrilled. He was going to be spending the night with the Ladies.
He was taking a little too long getting up the ramp, and the Ladies were pushing on his butt to make him move.

He took a step aside and let the Ladies through. He liked this. He could stand up and be face to face with his Ladies.

The Ladies, however, were ready for bed. They all told him to turn around, settle down, and shut that light out. Woohoo!!! Good Night Ladies!!

Well, I think I know what he was doing- the Ladies are all looking out the window. But it's dark out there. So he is afraid to look. My biggest little rooster is very adorable, but he is what he is- a very big CHICKEN.

I'm finishing up the next chapter now. More pictures. Should be posted in a little while.

NO mommy!!!! Not the light!! DON'T turn it OFF!! hahaha, sounds like my kids at the end of a really tiring overstimulated day. Which, lately, we have had way too many of.
