The blasted neighbor cat tried to kill one of our keets.

It was laying in wait in a bush, and as soon as my dad put the keets as we call them out, it came streaking across the yard strait for the birds, but my dad hollered and waved and shouted an it got scared and ran back to its own yard.

there aught to be some kind of rule about having out door pets that don't stay to your own yard and instead go and terrorize and kill or try to kill neighbors animals. I mean shoot, if our dog when it was alive spent half as much time as this stupid cat spends in our yard, laying on our cars putting paw prints all over our window shield, killing lizards in our yard, and now trying to kill our birds, they'd be raising hell, and calling for our blood, they'd probably even get animal control involved.

But unlike a dog you can't confine a cat to a yard very well, unless you trained them and she never bothers to train any of her cats to stay in their own yard. and if we said anything to the neighbor she'd be like oh boo hoo.

One time her oldest cat jumped into my dad's camper van cause the window was open, and he didn't know the cat was in the van , it was hiding, and he rolled up the window's an the poor cat baked for 3 days in the van. It was fine, but another day, or a couple more hours, and it very likely would of died.

It would of course have turned into a total pitch fork and torch fest if the cat had died, but the way I see it is, hey, train your terrors to stay in their own yard, and stuff like this wouldn't happen to them.

I am so glad that your keets are ok. I say SSS. Either stay away from my babies or SSS. Hope you find a way to keep it away.

Don't let the keets get used to the cat being around. Once they are old enough they will go after the cat because it does not belong in their flock. And there is such a thing as telling your neighbor about the problem and telling her you will live trap it and take it to a shelter if she doesn't deal with the problem. I've got a .22 for that problem. And my adult flock of Guineas. It all depends on who gets to the problem faster, me or them.

robin416 my dad won't make waves by trapping it, and he kind of likes the cat so he doesn't wanna hurt or kill it either, but he used to trap cats a long time ago when we had chickens and they bothered and killed a couple of our chickens.. For now till they're bigger he's not letting them roam free.

That'd sure be a site to see though a ginni running off a cat.

terrilhb Thank you. I am glad they are too, it probably wouldn't of been if my dad wasn't out there cause he just let them out.

You can however, trap, skin, and stew them.

Do whatever you can to discourage the cat if the keets are not up where they can't see the cat in your yard. If its out there all of the time they will think its part of the landscape and won't protect as a unit.

I've watched our Guineas go after a fox, last week it was a cat and had multiple stand offs with a resident doe. Last Fall we watched them herd a bunch of fawns from Spring birth from the rear of our property to the front and harassed them until they finally jumped the fence.

I would be as nice as possible to the neighbors. As soon as the guineas are old enough to free range they're going to end up on the neighbors property more than once. You should set an example of tolerance toward their animals. You can always squirt the cat with water but I wouldn't get the neighbor upset about it.

When the guineas are bigger they will take care of the cat.

He's going to clip their wings so they can't get out of our yard. Unless they're magically able to jump 6 foot tall fences or go through them, they're not gonna end up in the neighbors yard. I hope. I'm sure her Australian blue heeler Shepard dog would just love a chance to snack on one of them, or try to herd them an accidently hurt them or they hurt him.

We always try to keep the peace, because man oh man when she's on a war path, look out. it's loud and it's unpleasant and you can hear her shouting and hollering even with your doors and windows closed, and that's just her raging at her kids an her husband. I don't know what kind of unpleasant holy heck she'd unleash if she had a grudge against a neighbor.

I've seen cats trained to do all kinds of things, usually stupid like pee on a toilet or something but it's a fallacy you can't train cats. Now maybe you can't train them to stay in their own yard, I could see where that'd be nearly impossible.

I have train our family cat not to go after any kind of baby poultry that I raise. He is now deathly afraid of them.

If I was holding him, and put him close to the chicks he would claw, and fight his way out, and run as fast as he could the other way.

What I did was when we first got him, I put him by the day old chicks, he wanted them for dinner. But I ended that by giving him a good rap on the head. So he wants nothing to do with them now, he has not touch them for 5 years.
