We're newbies. Here is what my husband built after looking at some other coops here. Not sure about insulating yet, going to wait until fall and make that decision. We are also going to run electricity so we can use light and heat lamps if necessary. Our daughter came up with the name "The Breakfast Box" for our coop.
Here is the door where we can go in and change food & water and clean out coop.
Top door is to access the nesting boxes. Bottom two doors are for storage.
Pop door. Still need to add ramp up to deck.
Window that opens. Door at bottom opens to clean out under roost.
Other window.
Roosting area (going to add one more roost). Our floor is made of that plastic decking wood so it should wash out nicely (got it free from a friend
Nesting boxes. Small area on top could use for storage, but I have a feeling the chickens will be up there
. Need to keep an eye out for eggs.
Still a lot of little things to do (run cable for pop door, add vents, paint, add fenced in run area....) Just got done roofing in the cold today. Now if it would warm up we could get the painting done. Hope this helps others
