I feed Flock raiser crumble to everyone but if you want to start with starter crumble then mom can eat it too, one nice thing about using an all flock is once you let everyone be together you don't have to try to keep the ducklings food away from the adults.

Hey Lydia how old do our ducks have to be to eat grass and do cayugas usually go broody

Duckling can eat grass when ever they are very young, but if you feed them anything other that their crumble be sure they get grit with it. When mine are in a brooder i cut pieces of sod and bring it inside for them to play with. I'm not sure if Cayuga's are broody or not, just like with most domestics some are good some mediocre and some could care less. Time will tell.

Lightening came out of her dog house and was standing at the gate so I let her out. She hit the pond quick and bathed and seemed great. Of course I was happy to see her come out and stretch, lol. I offered her some mealworms and lettuce and while she was standing there, she started pooping out bright red blood, she is acting fine but it worried the heck out of me. Is she ok? She is out and walking around for about an hr now, the eggs are due to hatch on Saturday. How long is it ok she is out for? I hope she's not giving up with only days to go.

Are you sure it was blood and not a freaky nasty broody poop? I hope she's back on her nest now.
