The Broody Duck Thread for 2014

Mom has one of those big heavy rubber dishes, she eats and drinks out of. The sides are approximately 4-5 in high. I do have some wood blocks, so I will just put her's on those so ducklings can't reach then. Then I will do the little cut out one you showed me a few days ago for the lil ones and another lil plastic bowl for their food. My son got the days mixed up, FFA will be next Friday. I'm glad, now I got today to switch things up a bit. I looked and it is about 2-3 in step up into doghouse, so I think I will build a lil plank so i know they can get in and out easy, glad you mentioned that, thanks so much. Didn't even think about the bedding

I am so happy I have you, Holly and others on here to help or I would be lost, for sure. I didn't know that a few could come early either. So when do you think I should hear or maybe see the ducklings? Bad thing about her doing her nest in the small doghouse, I can't see in there

Day 35 is tomorrow-I started the count after she sat for 24 hrs

I have the same feelings about the doghouses... Especially the igloo style. Difficult to get into for sure. I'm not positive about Scovies, since I don't have them, but I did notice that my mammas here started " talking" differently as they approached closer to hatch. She'll sense the hatch before you do. Hopefully you will wake up tomorrow to a full hatch. :) & P.S. Everything I know I learned either here, from others, or the ducks themselves taught me! :)

Is hatch time 21 days for ducks like chicks?? I thought it was 35 but i don't know exactly .

As of last night, I have a total of 73 muscovy ducklings that were hatched all in 1 week. And I still have 7 more mamas that are setting on eggs. :(
This is not good for me. :hit My muscovy population has reached to almost 200. I had a nightmare last night. :hit
