The Broody Duck Thread for 2014

I wanted to add this video, and it seemed to me this thread is the best place to put it. Now to see if I can get this up and going.

Ok I have a broody muscovy and she has been laying eggs and decided to sit about 11 days ago (before I was taking away the eggs) she has stopped laying for the past three days, and she has 8 eggs, but she has been sitting on some of the eggs for 10 days, and then was adding more to her nest as she went, when will they hatch or will it be a staggered hatch and any tips for airing incubation
Thanks Reece :)

Is the video a broody duck?? I ask because I've never known a 'broody' and this is exactly how my broody 'suspects' are sounding, lol.

Yes this is Romy, broody.
Thank you so much for posting the video. They say a picture is a thousand words, or something like that lol.... now a video is a million words. I can now say my 'suspect' broodies are broody and that I too have been known to be broody... LOL... mess with my children (all 4 legged or only 2 but have feathers) and I will take you out just like my broodies seem to be telling me about their eggs

Hi all I adopted 2 runner ducks (drake and duck) I was told by previous owner they were being picked on by chickens. They are 1yr. Ive only had them A week. The female does loads of head bobbin (like shes saying no whilst quacking). Ive also noticed loads of feathers everywhere. Is she going broody or molting. The lady also said she hasnt laid for a few days but when she does they are big blue ones. I havent seen any yet! Any advise xx

It may take her a while to start laying since she has been moved to a new home, but the head bobbing means she is flirting the feathers could mean molt. Mine are beginning to molt. which means eggs will be delayed till after she is through. How are they doing with your ducklings?
