I think there is probably something genetic with the egg shape, don't hold me to it though. However, once a pullet or hen lays and you see a certain shape to their eggs, they will always lay that shape, whether it stays the same size or not is a different thing, they get bigger as they lay longer up to a point. Sorry to disappoint.

Excellent first hatch despite the cold weather. 80% fertility with a 97% hatch rate.
 
I can see now how huge they are! I'm curious, what is the minimum weight of egg that you set?

I don't weigh them. I just select good hens of standard weight that have good egg production capabilities. These hens must meet my standards in appearance as well. The production aspects of this breed are just as important to me as their exhibition qualities. If you go back a few posts, you will see the hen and the size of egg that that chick came from

I have a buckeye named Scout. I got her last May and she's been a really sweet chick ever since. I don't have any recent pictures of her, but I do have these:
