The Buckeye Thread

Congratulations Joe on your show wins! Always good to see the Buckeye breed enjoying a higher profile in the show public's eye!

And a Buckeye Cockerel also won Ch American at the Forsyth Fowl Fanciers Spring Show in Winston-Salem, NC! How cool is it that Buckeyes are winning everywhere?!

That's wonderful!!! Who showed it or what lines did it come from? I think someone in our group posted pics from that show but don't quote me on that as it was a while back. :)

Congratulations on the wins, Joe. I can't think of a more deserving individual to carry off these wins. Looking forward to seeing your birds at even more shows.

This is great to hear. About time the Red side started knocking those Whites off their pedestal.

slfarms, I believe it was J&S Farms in NC, they had the Buckeye that took Ch American and a Chantacler that took Res Ch American. That show was either March 29 or 30,-about a week ago. You'll have to contact them to find out what lines or breeders they came from...

I took these pictures at WS it was the only buckeye there The cage card said BB. I didn't see if it won anything further.
There wasn't a lot there.

Thanks Regin; That is a decent bird, the back is longer which is nice to see because some bucks are getting too short. It has a great beak in my opinion; it is strong and well curved. The shanks are a decent size. I think the head could be broader and the tail a little bigger but I'd be interested in seeing this bird as a cock. I wonder if it has undercolor? Again, thanks for the pic Regin.

This was not my bird. This was the first show that I attended. I took pictures. I didn't touch him.
It seemed very calm, and was not pacing the cage like some others.
He had some light spots that I didn't think looked so good, maybe he was just a little roughed up. IDK I believe he originated from McCary.
Definitely not up to Shumaker standards, but better than mine. LOL I'm still waiting on my first buckeyes.

It was a small show. And I was disappointed at the general quality of the other American birds there. There were some nice ones in some of the other groups though.
