The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

My bunnies were being photogenic today after I cleaned out their cage... :D I also forgot to mention in the wake of Pumpkin's issue that Lion's eyes cleared right up with the camomile tea. They've been a little puffy the last few days but they are pretty much back to normal now. I only had to do the teabags two or three days...he was beginning to really hate it lol.

Thank you! I'll have to share pictures; they have a nice sized hutch off the ground that we built, and then three connecting dog pens set up in the yard to give them plenty of space to run around. I just got back inside from caring for them, so I'll get pics for you later. :)

We are moving soon so my plan for them was put on hold, but my hope is to set up a removable cover for their dog pen so that they can spend the whole day out there, and not just get supervised times outside. (because of hawks) Once we move we will set this up and they will spend the day out in the pen and the night in the predator-proof hutch.

I am noticing that the rabbits I accidentally let breed are eating more than the other pair of rabbits i have... or the female is. I plan on slowly increasing her pellet ration because pregnant rabbits need more protein. Nursing rabbits get unlimited pellets.
She cleans out her regular ration of pellets in 3/4th the time she used to so I am going to assume she is pregnant now. Due date should be Halloween.

What are you going to do with the babies? For meat?

I am going to select some for further breeding, sell as many as I can. If I can't sell or use all of them I will meat and fur process them but its a last resort for me. I really just want the poo. I also want to make money making and selling rabbit cages that are safe for Rex Rabbits. I am still trying to figure out the best way to do it because I doubt anyone else will use concrete pavers in a cage like I do because they are a pain to deal with.
