That's so kind of uView attachment 2359674
I made these to donate to the runny rabbits at the animal sanctuary
Thanks! That's so kind of u. These are some really nice toys definitely gonna try to make some like these for bugs.
Thank you so much for sharing the process โค. He also eats stuff like cardboard. I had to stop using newspaper in his litter box cuz he started to eat it. Is it okay if he eats cardboard? Thanks!
Be sure when you make them take off the tape. I use scissors to scrape off any sticky stuff too.
To make the ones with strips of cardboard I just cut out shapes, pushed a nail through, used scissors to make it bigger, and used the nail to thread twin through the holes. For some pieces of cardboard I peeled off the first layer of it so I had two pieces. One was the now textured piece and the other was a thinner piece. This way there were different size and textured pieces.
With some I rolled them up, some I folded, and others I left as is.
It was harder to get the nail to poke through the folded bits but after a while I got the hang of it.
Sometimes I tie knots through the middle in-between cardboard too.
Once I got it to the length I wanted I just tied a knot at the end.
I made two other toys similar to the other five that I just explained. For the circler one made of cardboard I just poked holes at the end of cardboard strips and strung the twine through it until I had enough to tie it together and make a circler like shape.
For the other one I did it exactly like the other five but instead of folded strips of cardboard I just cut out circles. For that one I decided to make it go from larger to smaller.
For the braided circles I just cut out a strip of a paper bag and cut three lines, leaving the end together. I then braided it and folded the end back into itself. I then put the two ends together so they overlapped and stuck the nail through to make a hole, and scissors to make it bigger. Once I got a hole through it I strung the twine through, wrapped it around a few times, and tied a knot.
With one of the toilet paper tubes I just cut little strips into the ends and folded it in so I could stuff treats in it. With the other one I folded up cardboard in it so I could put pellets in it for them to get out. With the paper towel roll I just cut some strips into the ends for a different texture and tied it with twine so I can stuff hay in there for them to get out.
Hope this helps. I'm sure Bugs will love whatever you make for him!
Your welcome!Thank you so much for sharing the process โค. He also eats stuff like cardboard. I had to stop using newspaper in his litter box cuz he started to eat it. Is it okay if he eats these?
I do use paper bags.Your welcome!
It's normal for rabbits to eat a some while chewing and it shouldn't hurt him. If you notice him eating it a lot them I would replace it and offer something different.
With the newspaper I would maybe try something else if he's eating it a lot because it has ink in it. Puppy pads or folded paper bags will work just as well if that's an option.
Adorable!!I posted a while back with some questions and I just wanted to update with pictures of our new bunnies and the hutch we built for them. We've had them over a month now and they're such fun little bunnies!

This is Twilight.

And this is Cheerio aka Cho-Cho. They're both girls. We were told that they're dwarfs.

I've recently discovered that they love to chew on pinecones. I soak them in vinegar water, let them air dry for 3 days and then bake them in the oven at 250 for 2 hours. They chew them down to almost nothing. I don't think my supply of 50 is going to last long!

Here is the hutch that my husband designed and built for them. It's 4 feet by 7 feet so they have plenty of room to hop around.

We use the storage area above the hutch for supplies and hay and it's working out great.

I had him build a little hopping structure for them and they're always either sitting on top of it or laying under it. It gives them opportunities for exercise and they seem to really like it.

Here it is from the side. There are 2 boards at 2 different levels giving them lots of hopping options.

View from the side - the chickens are next to them.

We gave them each their own bedroom in the back, but they chose to sleep together in one and use the other one as their bathroom. Soon we'll build them a wooden box to sleep in during the winter.

We built this movable, foldable run for them to get some time in the grass. They spend about 2 hours a day in this, sometimes more. It's big enough for us to put our chairs in there and sit with them.

I love when they stand on their hind legs like this! So cute! Hope you enjoyed my little tour.
Thanks! We have hay in a tissue box for them also (you can see it in one of the pictures) so there are 2 "hay buffets". Yes, they're litter trained I would say. Here's a pic of their "bathroom" area. They do their business in the 2 plastic bins (and also on the hay a little). Maybe I should get a 3rd plastic bin to cover the whole area.Adorable!!
That looks like a nice sized hutch too!
The only thing I would do is give them maybe a bigger hay rack or something, and give them some fleece. Other than that it looks good!
Are you going to litter train them?
