The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

Oh I remember what I did with the Contraption manure that was separated from the urine... it went straight into a worm compost. The worm compost was thrown into a chicken run for chickens to scratch up and find worms and bugs to eat. Then eventually I shovel out the runs and compost it. Worms hate rabbit Urine. The Urine I just through some straw down under the cage to soak up the odor.
Thanks! I have my bunnies inside so they use a litter box but I was thinking about putting a grate in there and covering that with straw so that I can separate the poop from the wet hay on the bottom. I'll have to experiment.

What type of litter do you use? Are rabbits as easy to litter train as cats? lol as if you have to train a cat, just put them in the litter box and walk away. When they need to go they use the litter box. Unless you have potted plants, I have seen cats use potted plants as litter boxes if they fit in the pot.
I use hay for litter. It took my bunnies an hour to be litter trained. I just put them in it and they knew what to do. They were very young just taken from their mom, I believe 8 weeks old. They never make a mess out of the litter box.

I added a little bit of litter from the cage my buns were previously housed in to a litter box, topped with a light layer of hay and I've had no issues.

I've seen most rabbits use a litter box better than cats. Most catch on pretty quick.
I would get a good size litter box, usually a hooded cat litter box works best, and fill it up to the brim with fresh hay, with a bit of litter in the back. Don't use cat litter, it's often made of clay which the rabbit might eat and die from.

I had a hooded one but took the top off. My bunnies like it better with the top off of it.
