The Bunny Chat Thread - For Bunny Owners

I think they'd like it! Just go slow introducing new things and watch for stomach upset or change in poop.
Yeah! And thanks for telling me, I know that but it is good to be cautious. My older lionhead has some issues with producing too many cecetropes sometimes if I don't watch what I feed him (mainly pellets, although I've noticed it with some lettuces--nothing I'd try to give him regularly though) so I probably won't do anything too crazy, since they're used to this diet and are healthy on it.

Bunny salad and the bunnies hanging in the long grass while I clean their cage and litter box.

I finally finished the Rabbit pen, Unfortunately I discovered I could not hang the cage for the male rabbit in there or he would pee on the food, I have to place the feeder right in the center or rain will get to it and the peeing range from a cage is wider than the cage itself. I have meat birds in a coop/pen where I want to build the next rabbit pen for male rabbits. I also need to study if I can have multiple males in the same pen or if I need to make a segregation pen. I will be adding more concrete block/pavers to make more tunnels and hiding spots. places to give birth etc. The female is getting some exercise and exploration time. She hated the pen before when it was half done and Put her in there for recreation time. She is starting to like it because she is finding hiding spots. I will be adding hay soon. I found a guy who makes Organic Hay and his round bales fit in the back of my van. I am not an organic nazi I do not care if the rabbits eat non organic hay, they are rabbits and don't care... but their manure can be harmful to the garden if the hay was treated with Chemical herbicides like most hay is. Composting (or not composting with rabbit manure) is important to me, I need good clean nutrient soil to work with.

I just made a hay manger out of a hanging plant holder. I’ll take a pic tomorrow. The bunnies love it. Holds hay great.

I was sick of TSC not having one every time I went in there
I am actually in the middle of making a hay holder out of an old rabbit cage that was crushed from something heavy falling on it and it would be too much work to repair it so I started cutting parts off here and there when I need small pieces of cage material. Going to fix something to the side of my shed inside that rabbit pen where the rabbit(s) can pull hay out of it. If I made a hanging one I would use one of those metal wire egg collection baskets

Be careful with that spinach, it's on a limited amount list for bunnies.

It says 1 should be from that list. You can’t pick 2. So it’s fine. It’s a mix it’s not all spinach. It’s got other leafy greens. Plus they usually just get that every other day with fresh blueberries and carrots. I don’t give them salads every single day. They do pellets every other with grass clippings.

I just bought them new hay that has flowers added too it. The bag is quite colorful with marigolds, roses, and other edible flowers.

And yesterday I went insane at TSC! Think my pug brainwashed me. They got a ton of Merrick canned food all different flavors. Plus toys 🙄
