I am about to head out to sell my Californian doe Alamosa (she is not getting pregnant lately ) and taking in a Californian marked Netherland Dwarf doe. Bittersweet

It's always tough to get rid of a breeder when you've had them for a while. That's an interesting exchange though. Is the new doe for breeding?

Just a few pictures from the Rabbit Pen

I left a pot full of grass weeds, tree died but its full of rabbit food!

The next morning, the rabbit had been chewing on the plastic not much removed/consumed but I figure it might be bad to keep pots in the pen. she was inside the pot and looked like she was about to start digging. Its been removed. If I find another with just plants that rabbits eat I might give her another pot. Maybe not, not sure at the moment.

Saw dust litter box still being used, I see no coco puffs in other parts of the pen.

Earlier in the day I must have forgotten to lock the pen and she got out, I walked over to her to put her back and she ran back in and went into the cave system. She figured out how to open the door when its not locked.

I had to use a bamboo branch to stabilize the cage (hard to explain why) the male rabbit who is still stuck in a cage for now started chewing on the ends and I realized that I could drape hay all over this branch (which was like a tree) and now I have a hay holder for the caged rabbit. I still have Cornish X living in the coop that will be converted into a Rabbit Pen. I hadn't planned on getting rabbits until this fall but the exact breed and color I wanted was available last month so I jumped on them.

Personally I think that vet was just an idiot or something because no reputable vet would ever recommend declawing as it’s a cruel and painful procedure. In fact, most refuse to even do it. That said though, most cat people I’ve seen and rescues, vets, etc. are extremely adamant about the indoor only thing.

And I mean I can see it to a point cause there’s diseases, cars, predators, poison, whatever, outside but I hate how they act like you’re cruel or a bad owner if you do it.

Our last cat was indoor/outdoor and our current one is mostly indoor now but she does go outside from time to time and used to a lot more when she was younger. She doesn’t really like being out long now. But our property is extremely safe and she mostly just hangs on the deck. I wouldn’t let them loose in a city or something. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a strictly indoor cat as long as you provide it with enough enrichment and play and stuff.

I will probably eventually have both indoor only and barn cats when I get the room. Or actually I think I might do only barn cats in the future as I hate litter boxes haha I realize I would probably still need one but still.

They do try to get you to spend money though. As much as I like mine, they keep wanting me to do like a $400 blood test granted it’s the full panel with like every organ, urinalysis, etc. but still... that’s insane lol

We always let our cats come and go as they pleased regardless of where we lived. Some preferred to be out hunting birds and chilling in a tree. Others laid in front of the food bowl enjoying the sun through the window and rarely went out.

I agree it's not a good idea to declaw a cat. What if the cat got out and was chased by a dog? There's a tree, but it can't climb up to escape. Or if it was attacked by another cat, how would it defend itself?

Cats provide food for themselves with their claws. I had a feral cat come to our house once and it slaughtered a family of moles and left the skins of them all over my lawn

It's been an exiting few days at the IHOB ( that's what I have named our rabbit family, IHOB stands for international house of bunnies)

1. We put Lilly with Buck a few days ago, I didn't see them do their stuff but I left her in his cage overnight. Really hoping she is pregnant .

2. Last night we were out by our pool and my brother shouted " there's a bunny over there!" They caught it but I am having mixed feelings about keeping it... It is old enough to eat by itself but still young. We have named her ( if it is a her) Angelica.

Is Angelica a wild rabbit? If so you should let her go immediately in the area you found her. She's old enough to be weaned and on her own. (Wild rabbits wean at 4 weeks.) Wild cottontails stress out and die in captivity extremely easily so keeping it could be as likely to kill it as leaving it wild.

They can also carry diseases that could infect your domestics.
