Okay, I have this wonderfu friend that was kind enough to give me this fantastic, huge cage. I finally got the chance today to put the different levels in and put my buttons in... Here's the result!

We're a little male heavy right now (4 boys to 4 girls) and I'm praying that since they have the room to spread out...maybe they'll get along??

The cage is probably 5' by 3 1/2' and there are 4 levels (plus a small pen in the very bottom that if I have to, will be the "hospital" section) The fake flowers were scraps that I bought at Walmart quite a while ago and they love having something to hide in.

These guys are in my bathroom now (which is 12' by 10') and it's the warmest, brightest room in the house....not to mention the busiest with 4 kids!

Looks great. I have a question. I am thinking of getting some button quail myself. Do they go from level to level in your cage? Just curious about what kind of cage I want to get.

The theory is for them to go level to level....I started them off each pair to a level and they've all clustered to the bottom.

We've got our first bonk injury

My daughter was fooling around in the bathroom (Grrrrrrrr) and one of my little girls popped up and whacked her head. I had hoped that I'd made each level low enough that they couldn't get the momentum for any kind of injury...I was wrong. She split her head open good...so she's back in the aquarium she was in before. We put some spray bandage on her head and in a little bit I'll be putting her mate in w/ her.

To make matters worse, one of my baby buttons is acting lethargic....

LOL... maybe they will figure it out. I was just wondering about that. Hope the injured one and your baby one gets better soon.

Keep us updated on how it works out.

4 males to 4 females is perfect with buttons. In the wild they pair up. The most females to males you want is 2

Hope your little ones get better! Let me know how they do with their new cage. Did you see the pics of mine? Everybody stays on the bottom, but the blueface found himself on the top shelf this morning. I think he liked it. He could see his old 'roommate', the Texas A&M coturnix quail that is in a fish tank on the dresser!

awesome set up, well pampered bqs! minus the bonkie probs that's awesome!!!!

Yep i agre with shelley you have a great male to female ratio....now if those were coturnix quails that'd be different.

Mine just about had theirs torn apart this morning! Nobody looked injured, but they had 2 ramps and the bottom 'shelf' knocked down, they must have been having a wild night!
