Here is the little black and white chick that hatched from the Aloha rooster and my Mottled Partridge NN hen.

If you look really close you can see that it is turning a Partridge color. Wondering if it will turn out with the mottling line mama. She was the same color when I got her.

These are by my Mottled Partridge rooster ( his mom was my Mottled Parttidge hen).

The 2 red colored ones I believe are out of the Red Partridge hen ( she is the 1/2 Wrlsummer hen).

The three darker ones I think are most likely out of either a Black NN or a Blue NN hen ( they are full sisters). They have some kind of markings throughout the feathers ( not sure if it's Partridge or not).

I picked out a couple more chicks from a random batch of Aloha peeps.

This one is huge - she (?) dwarfs all the other chicks, including pure Speckled Sussex and Alohas hatched within a week of each other.

With an Aloha rooster for size -

ABOVE: A rooster hatched same time as her. "Normal" size - same as Alohas of same age. Nice yellow legs.

View of hen from behind so you can see width.

Now it's supposed to be 118 and 120 this weekend so pray they survive. :(

All are beautiful. I really like that rooster.

I need to get pictures of my up and coming calico cockerels.

Got some new pictures of the young cockerels.
They are now 12 weeks old and maybe a couple of days more.

This is the cockerel that has no Aloha blood in him. By the Red Mottled NN rooster and out if the Mottled Parttidge hen.

This is the cockerel that came from the Aloha rooster. He is a grandson of the Mottled Partridge hen. Out of a daughter from a previous mating (not the Red Mottled NN).

The chicks from the red hens turn out great and look nice, except that they are way smaller chicks.

I have some chicks now from the Mottled Pattridge hen by the Aloha rooster, but I don't think I'll make that cross again. They turned out with a partridge type look, but not really partridge but they do however have a good bit of mottling on them. I'll try to get I tired later this coming week.

I'm going to make a rooster change before my September hatch. Probably going to put the Mottled Partridge hen in with her 5 daughters and out the son/ brother over them.

The Aloha rooster will be put back over the barred hens those babies turned out pretty for asexual linked cross.

The main problem with the Aliha rooster is that I'm not getting very many pullets from him, seems like the hens don't want his daughters.

Hello,
I am new to NNs since late March when a co-worker gave me a flat of eggs from several different breeds from her flock.
It's been interesting trying to figure out what they are- some are mixes, so that has made it a little difficult, but still enjoyable.
Here are just a few of the NNs that hatched. I'm trying to sell of 3-4, or a pair + a roo, but I'm not sure what to call their colors, or how much I should ask for them.
Any helpful comments are appreciated. (I'm guessing the first would be called "barred" and the last is "black", but I'm stumped on the middle two.)
Thanks, PJ

1). Barred
2). Maybe a Pyle.
3). Maybe the start of a Golden Laced.
4). Black

It's really hard to give the proper names on the unusual colors, they most likely came from a mixed color flock of Naked Necks.

Just in case you're wondering all 4 are cockerels.

Price all depends on your geographical area and the breeds that are in demand or are wanted.

I sell mine for no less than $20 for a single hen. If they want a rooster ( I don't keep very many anyway) I will let a hen and rooster pair go for around $28. These are grown one that are laying age or at laying age.

None appear to be mottled or calico, but could carry it in their background.

Well I decided today to try a inbreeding matings. Some of you may know that I'm doing a Mottled/Calico Naked Neck project.

I had been breeding my Mottled Partridge hen to to my Red Mottled NN rooster. The first time with a different rooster and have two Red daughters from that mating.
Anyway back to plans.

I have taken the Mottked Partridge hen and the 2 red daughters and three daughters ( they have some light mottling in wing area) and put them in a run together. I moved her son a Mottled Partridge in with them. So he will be mating with his mother, 2 half sisters and three full sisters.

I tried the Mottled Partridge with the Spangled Aloha rooster and didn't care for the results of that mating. He did produced good color with the 2 red hens in this run , but with the Partridge color it is kind of a messy partridge color with some mottling. Giving this a try holding off on any hatching until about September though.

So do you folks think this will work on helping my mottled project? I'm not a big fan of inbreeding but have decided to do at least a one time hatch to see how it will turn out.

@alohachickens
I still remember that I'll owe you some hatching eggs when j can get done of the Aliha babies laying. Not getting too many pullets from him so far.

I do still have a red hen that came from your Aloha stock but so far she had not produced any Aloha looking chicks. I'm thinking maybe about moving her in with the Aloha rooster and seeing how they turn out. But again that will be a hatch later this year and next year before I'd even know how it turns out. I do know that hen us on the small side and the chicks from the rooster are turning out on the small side also.

No worries, currently I have chickens EVERYWHERE and tons of eggs and lots of pairings I can't wait to try here - soon as I can reconfigure my very limited breeding pens!

Oh to have about 2-3 more pens right now . . . .
