The cat ate my chicks!

He got into the brooder, and ate my two very special chicks that hatched last night and I stayed up all night watching them!

I cant believe it!! I actually cried, because this is the SECOND time this has happened.

Whos cat has done the same??

This week when I took my chicks outside a stray cat tried to eat them so I ate the cat (I'm asian)

I lost a chick in the house to a cat once. The chick was in a cardboard box on the counter under a heat lamp, and I went to sleep. I wont make that mistake again. Birds are always covered, properly caged or moved into my room with a closed door at night. It wasnt the cats "fault" - I basically served him warmed up take out.

I have also had a cat bring in a day old chick through the cat door. The nest was wrecked, but at least the cat alerted me to the wrecked nest, and I saved the rest of the chicks. I keep chicks locked up now, but not only because of the cat. Chicks will drown in anything or get separated from mom just because she has too many to keep track of.

I wasn't there when my chick was eaten, which kind of just makes it worse. I was still in bed, sleeping, when suddenly, I heard my mother scream. At first, I wasn't sure about who was screaming, but soon, I knew. I hurled down the stair like a hurricane,, literally, IN MY PYJAMAS. I looked outside, seeing my mom teary eyed,, and I asked what happened, and she said that Lemon (my chick) had been eaten by big, fat ugly, white cat. My mom was literally barefooted when she ran to catch the cat, but she wasn't fast enough. Now my remaining chick, Kiwi, is just going around in circles, trying to find Lemon. ;( TnT
