We live out in the country and don't have specific ordinances fortunately. What I have noticed though is that chickens are contagious. My neighbor had a coop and that really is what caught my eye, I hadnt even thought about keeping hens before then. Now the neighbor behind us is building a coop too!

I guess the first step is to figure out what the local laws are and who you need to talk to in order to change them. City Council, Mayor, state or local legislators...
