The CHICKEN MATH Contest- Who has the worst case?

Oh my...
I'm thinking that if we ever get enough space for lots of chickens, I would try to cap it at 20, so I would actually be able to fit them all onto a BYC page

But 172?! How do you eat all the eggs?!

Well we help the local food pantry and we also sell a lot of the eggs as hatching eggs as well as hatch them out in the spring and summer to sell at the swap meets and local auction. We also grow them out to butcher and have the meat. I know it is a lot of work and money but to help others it our big goal. And we also have three autistic sons and they love the responablity of caring for the animals.

Good attitude! Yes, I too like providing farm fresh eggs from healthy hens to friends, especially those who are struggling in these economic times. And since I am an after-school tutor, we have done a LOT of nature studies with the hens and chicks. My favorite to do with the kids is from OSU Ag Center which you can download here: http://extension.oregonstate.edu/catalog/4h/4-H1500theincredibleegg.pdf

The parents of my students tell me their children never complain about coming to our tutor school but are excited to come. They love all the animals and the hands on lessons. Animals and kids are such naturals together.

Wow! That's awesome. If I ever have too many eggs, I know what to do now.

Definitely not a true competitor here but chicken math figured in. Planned & have proper space for two pullets. I figured I could get away with 3 because of the waivering space requirements given from website to website. Got 4 chicks, 2 SLW & 2 GLW figuring in for loss or a rooster. Chicks are 14 weeks, no losses & looks like all pullets but the verdict is still out on that one.

Well chicken math struck again we decided we might as well add some African Geese to the mix. We ended up with 15 goslings but we plan on selling most of them and only keeping three or four. So if you count the geese we are up to 187. LOL! I hope the people around here like geese eggs.

Planned on 3 hens.
Got 6 hens, and 1 rooster
Minimum required to ship.

Now have 5 hens, 3 pullets, and 7 chicks. But will be sending 2 hens and extra roos to freezer camp when old enough so will leave me with 10 hens and 1 rooster. 8 extra means I have a mild case. However if I knew how to build coops myself instead of needing husband's help, I would have many more chickens of all sorts.

How many,,, IDK,, it all started in December when my little white box arived. I have chicks every month from Dec to now with 23 3 week olds out in the flock without a mother hen since 3 days old. Did I plan it this way,, no! But when you get an offer to hatch pink and blue eggs on halves,,, and then find a local sorce for green eggs,,,, and your new pullets want to go broodie on the old girls eggs.
I think there to be somewhere around 90 pullets 20 Roos (not all in the yard) 10 hens 4 coops (and another started)
Someone take this thing away from me!!!! LOL
Lets say my EE project is off to a good start!

Yes, I feel clueless when it comes to building stuff. If I had more experience, I would definitely have made room for more.

I started out with 5 old hags,,, hens and a Roo about a year old, then picked up 3 younger hens.
Well I now have 4 coops 4 runs and another being built, somewhere around 100 pullets about 20 roos left and a broodie on the nest.
I have (so far) managed to not start another batch inside! My pullets should start to lay the end of next month and every month for the rest of the year!
