The CHICKEN MATH Contest- Who has the worst case?

Ok:

Wanted:

2 New Hampshires
2 Cuckoo Marans
2 Easter Eggers
2 Silver Laced Wyandottes

Got:

4 New Hampshires
4 Cuckoo Marans

So far, even.

1 New Hampshire died, bought 3 more, brought up to 10 from 8 wanted.

Then one more NH died, so now have 9 instead of 8.

HOWEVER, two Marans have hammered the final nail in the "oh I hope you're just a light colored pullet with a big red comb" so now I have to replace them..... so my final tally will probably go up by another 3.

Final result is a mild case of chicken math.

I planned on 3 hens.

I got those 3 hens (1 Old English, 1 Spitzenhouben mix, 1 Wyandotte)

and now have:
Those 3 hens
1 Silkie mix
2 Silver Sebrights
1 golden sebrights
2 bantam Ameraucanas
3 Silkies
3 RIRs
1 D'Anvers
1 Bantam Cochin

and ordered more chicks and some ducklings!

I never planned on having any chickens. Then I got talked into buying 40 chicks, who turned into 39 roosters, sold and swapped them for 4 hens, got another hen, got 40 more hens.... Ended up with 107 chickens. I have no idea how that happened

Started over recently. Planned on getting 5 chickens. I now have 12. And I'm looking for an incubator.

Original: 6

Actual: 62

Why: the fist 6 truned into 12 because mom told me if we are going to do this we are going to get enough to be worth the money
that quickly turned into 16 then 20, 24 , 30 beacause I kept reading about all the different breeds so we were settled on 30.
then we went to TSC and you have to get at least 6 chicks so we got 7 went back later that day to get another feeder got 3 more chicks that week we got a total of 34 chicks and we still had 24 more chicks comming from a hatchery so that makes 58 chickens then we got a blue laced red wyandotte hen and a trio of imported black English Orpingtons for a grand total of 62 chickens :)

My case: Extreme

39 roosters? Bad luck! Keep the epidemic going!

Oh I will, trust me. I've already spread it around and got a few more people hopelessly hooked on chickens

The problem with chicken is, it's an addiction. Once you got them it's very difficult to live without them any more! I went a month without chickens recently and it was really hard not having my feathered friends around anymore. I missed them so much! When we finally settled and I could get some again I just went out and bought the first ones I saw. And I must confess I don't really like eating eggs. I just keep the hens for pets. I know that makes absolutely no sense to most people, but it does to me!

Wanted: 6 hens
Got: 14 unknown (there were 14 left and I just couldn't leave some behind!)
Got rid of 6 because I wanted buff orpingtons
Original 8 chickens turned out to be 5 hens and 3 roosters.
As chicks one female kept getting picked on. Got her a duck friend. Then had to get that duck a friend. Ended up with 2 more. (3 ducks total plus 8 chickens)
Got 3 buff orpingtons. (now 11 chickens and 3 ducks)
One duck died (predator).
Mimi didn't make it (chicken lost to unknown disease).
Currently at 10 chickens and 2 ducks.
Three roosters are about to go "away".

Ok, started out to get six, 5 pullets and a roo, Buff Orpintons, because I like them and wanted to breed them. When I got there the girl claimed she didn't get my message and had sold most of them; came home with 1 BO hen & roo and 3 barred rock pullets. Bought 4 day old BO pullets

then a friend gave me 4 Welsummer cross chicks which all turned out to be pullets, one later got nabbed by an owl. In the meantime I bought 11 Muscovy ducks and my friend gave me 5 runner ducklings. Later she gave me her old Welsummers and let me borrow her incubator, got 3 girls and one boy out of the hatch.

fast forward; had a dog attack, lost the barred rocks, three BO hens, 3 muscovy ducks. Ate some drakes. Bought 14 easter eggers of different ages, from three weeks to three months along with a young trio of BO. Hatched 4 barred rock X BO and 2 black copper marans ALL BOYS. Had 20 BCM shipped, only 6 survived the trip. Bought 15 more BCM, hatched 1 Welsummer and 2 Ameraucauna from shipped eggs and 4 more BR X BO from the last eggs my girls laid before the dogs. ate some more ducks.

Current count:

1 Muscovy duck recovering from dog attack

Grand total 65 chickens and 11 ducks
oh my I think I need an intervention ( NO just more pens!)

actually there are a lot of roos growing out named Dinner along with some excess drakes. I don't plan to buy or hatch any more for a little bit so things should be better in a month or two!

Wanted: 6 hens and a roo.

Started with 17 bantams given to me. silkies, Cochins of several colors.
Hatched several hatches, resulting in 21 roosters at one point! With no pullets from my hatches, not one. Mixed breed and Swedish Flower Hens
Butchered roos. Something ate one. We still have 10 roos, but most are bantam. I have 2 I want to rehome for sure, maybe another 3, with 2 more destined for freezer camp when they are bigger. My goal is just 2 Silkie roosters, 3 Cochin roosters (different colors) and 2 SFH roo.
Bought some more chicks, sexed this time, so we could get some decent sized eggs. they are still growing out.

I think we are up to 30?

Plus two ducks. My oldest son wants to raise ducks.

I am planning to buy some more Swedish Flower Hens in the spring.

And so far, NO EGGS.

Moderate case, I think.
