Hey everyone!

I haven't been around lately because I'm at college, but my mom called the other day and said that my darling pekins were LAYING EGGS! That got me to thinking.. How are the rest of them doing?

I do know that 10 of them we gave to a local boy are doing GREAT. He took them to the fair and they won Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. I was so proud!

Mine are doing awesome as well.. They have been getting into the chicken's raised nesting boxes at night and have been integrated with all of my younger ducklings. The boys are HUGE. I didn't know a duck could get that big.. He's almost the size of the saddleback pomeranian geese we have in with them.

I'll try to get my mom to take some pictures, but please post some of your own! I miss ducky cuteness.

Oh, and just to remember how far they've come..

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to updates!

I was hoping for updates by other adopters.. But here's a picture of some of my pekins with their new flock!

Pictured is Krissie in front, then Waddlesworth and Duckington's butt, then my darling Princess Puddles (with the light bill - you can see her in the above car picture too)! The swedish in the front is Daisy.. Lavendar (crested) and Delilah are in the back with the my fifth rescued pekin, Linda.

Hope you all enjoy and that some other adopters will update on here too!

Oh, I am so glad you asked. My three, Irma, Chrissie, and Boyd are doing just great. They merged with the flock of five other Ducksters, and now they pretty much move as one entity. Irma is a tad more outgoing than the other two, and ate peas out of my hand for the first time today, waiting of course for ample taste testing by the Runners. Chrissie and Boyd hang back just a little from the bigger group, but usually stay with each other. Boyd recently grew in a lovely drake tail, which you can see in the photo below: He is the big boy on the far right. The girls are getting flirtier by day, and aren't as resistant to my other drakes' advances as the Ducksters are. Maybe it's the month age difference.

I change this tub of water inside their pen twice a day; they also have baby pools in the yard that get changed daily. Like cats christening the clean litter box, or parrots the cage paper, the ducks can hardly wait to squeeze into a new container of water to muck it up. Thanks again for saving these wonderful birds and allowing them a second chance. I am so glad to be able to make a difference even for just the few that I could.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I wish I had recent pics for you!!!! I really need to take some. The 6 of ours are great! All the girls are laying every day. And all of a sudden too! And the drake's drake feather FINALLY curled up just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately for him it seems most of his girls are totally smitten with my Rouen drake, Decoy, but believe me, he gets his fair share.

They are some really HUGE pekins. I can't believe how big they are. You're right Chelsea, the drake is almost goose sized.

Anyway... They're happy, healthy and spoiled rotten. They really are a wonderful addition to our flock and every morning, when I first see them, I think about the awesome thing you did for them.

I'll try to take some recent pics later today...
