The Clarskburg Quackers.. (Rescued Pekins) Where are they now?

Thanks for the update. Someone came to my local lake and picked up all the jumbo Pekins (but left the runners and "regular" Pekins behind). I hope they were rescued and not taken for anyone's dinner. I wish I knew.

I am so happy to see that others have updated! I have planned that, pekins willing, I will be hatching out some of their offspring in December.

Parrotchick - so happy that your three are awesome! That is such a cute picture.. I am thinking of getting some crested pekin girls. I know what you mean about the water! Mine get mouthfuls of dirt and mud in the morning after I dump their pools and then come en masse to dirty their water. They'll also cover themselves bill to toe in dirt and wait for us to squirt them off.. I'm amazed that they are still white.

MysticalMom - poor drake! maybe you should get him some more girls, huh?

I think whoever has groups of these guys should email Aflac and see if they want to use the story or ducks to do a commercial!

John Metzer (from Metzer farms) is going to do a blog post on releasing domestic ducks and poultry into the wild! I found a mistake on his blog and submitted it.. Ended up winning a gift certificate. Anyways, with my reply back, I added a short story about the Clarksburg Quackers and suggested he do a blog to educate people on how bad it is for the ducks themselves and the wildlife populations they can effect. Just got a reply that he IS doing it within the next few months AND is using the picture of the ducks in the SUV! Big win for the CQ's!

That's awesome! Please keep us adopters updated. And no.. I still haven't taken those pictures.

Oh please let us know when he does that so we can all see it and read it...and post it in parks for some others to read as well who are thinking about doing it. Glad this all turned out to be a happy ending.

I think that's great!

I recently came across a couple feeding the ducks at the lake and told them how a lot of people drop off their ducks there. They actually thought it was a good idea to drop off ducks because they said that they would get fed. I told them about the predators we have there and how they are at severe risk of getting eaten. I could have mentioned more, but I think I made my point. People there have no clue about the struggle the animals have to go through every day at that lake with predators, disease, mean people, fires, fishing lines/wires/hooks, starvation (even though people feed them, it's still not enough to keep them entirely healthy), etc.

Yesterday, I think I found a new batch of Pekins. I don't think they're the same ones we had before.
