The cool chicken chat thread!

Sugar,a 7 or 8 month old girl puppy German shepard has came a long ways and just grew out of it.Maybe try just wacking her with a twig everytime she even dares to do it.That's how we trained Sugar not to chase cars.(This is when he was a teen),but sounds harsh.WE have a pitbull named Taz.Him and his sister loved chasing the hens,but they could killl it.If you have ever read on a pits aggression,and their jaws an d canines,you'll understand ,my story a ton better.Taz decided he wouldn't like to stop chasing the hens.So,we decided to use the BB gun method.We shot him and it pinch it got to hi s skin,and he hasn't chased him ever since then,method works if you use the gun properly,and know how to use 1.

This is my dog Dakota. I really need to train her not to eat my chickens. Any advice for training her? She is actually 10 yr. old but in SUPER GOOD shape. She runs laps and tried to jump our fence haha

this chick had a near death experience with the youngest dog Paige. The chick stuck her head through the fence while Paige was right on the other side. I ran up to her and pulled her away just in time to save her head from becoming Paige's next chew toy. Sadly, this chick got taken by a fox in broad daylight. The foxes at my place are very bold. I had an old dog(13yrs) that did not chase chickens( mostly cause he really couldn't run at all) and the chickens were hanging out near him when a fox came right up to the dog and the chickens and takes one. The dog barked but that's all he could really do, I ran out ( seeing this from a window) with my gun but the fox and the chicken were gone. That dog had to be put down the next year because of multiple old-age issues.

Hey @Eggmachine11 ! Welcome to the chat thread! So @Hens rule what did you do on your day off of school? I went and thinned my garden, tested seed viability, then pulled screws out of wood we are gonna turn into a planter box. Most kids would consider that chores.

Your dogs look like they're having fun. My dogs also love to play in the snow. I'm a dog person, but I absolutely HATE cats. It's not because I had a bad experience with a cat, actually all the cats my family has had were nice, I just don't like them.

I'm a dog person to! Compared to how much I love dogs I hate cats.

Your dogs so cute!!! I do have advise to train her not to attack your chickens. While she is watching pick up one of your chickens and if she comes over and try's to bit her say no and walk away. Also show her chickens are part of the family. I learned that from my own experience. :)
@Rocky64 that picture is so funny!!!! :D
@Eggmachine11 hello!!! :)

I was going to clean my chicken coop ( which is in need of a magor cleaning) but I did not have anymore bedding. So I pretty much just played games with my little sister and fed my chickens. Sounds like fun chores I can't what till it gets warm enough to do that kind of stuff :)

I like to bake and cook. The first thing I've ever learned how to cook was eggs! Lol!! :)

@Hens rule me too! I'm making cookies for a get together tomorrow, butter scotch chocolate, peanut, and sweet carrot! I have a really good recipe for bacon guacamole if anyone would like it!
