The Coop is Done!!! (mostly, gutters go up tomorrow)

Here is the final product. The gutter on the back needs to be added, husband is doing that tomorrow, but otherwise what we are calling the chicken Taj Mahal is done. Paint is done (as of 6:51pm tonight), run is done, run is covered, predator skirt is installed, automatic door opening (ChickenGaurd) installed, flashing on roof complete, nesting box in, poop board installed with roost and blackjack application.

When I was finishing painting today the door was open and the wind caught it, swung it all the way open, so a little white paint got on it, I'll tough that up tomorrow.
The sun had set and it was getting dark fast when I took these pictures so they are not the best, but you get the idea.

I've been really enjoying this coop, it is a little overkill in size, but it is really nice to move around, and there is absolutely no smell, which is amazing.

Looking to pick up some ridiculous thrift store art to hang in the coop.

Now they just got to start laying eggs. I haven't had chickens for 12 years, and this is the first for my kids, so lots of fun. One of our Black Australorps turned out to be a Rooster, we've been calling him Charles I, still deciding if we are keeping him, or if he is going to be dinner.

Very nice job! It's almost impossible to make it too big. If you keep Charles and one of the girls goes broody next year, you may want to let her raise chicks!
I didn't see the predator apron around the run.
You might want to tack a board to the front of the poop board to keep them from flinging the contents off when jockeying for roost spots or if one decides what a great place that is to take a dust bath.

The base footprint is is 6' x 8', but then we built walls, so the inside is a little less then that. The poop board comes out 23" from the back wall. The roof pitch is 14.5 degrees. Because we are in Oregon and it rains, a lot, we made the roof overhang deep in the direction the weather hits us to try and keep the weather off as much as possible.

Thanks! My husband mentioned the same thing if we keep Charles. He is kind of a bully to the girls, and I'm weighing if the juice is worth the squeeze with him and seeing if he is going to mellow out.

We installed the predator apron the same weekend the run went up, earlier this summer, now with the grass growing again it is kind of hidden, but it comes out 2 ' from the run base, with lots of yard staples to hold it down, overlapping 2' at the corners. We did splurge on some new tools for this project, including a stable gun that hooks up to the compressor. I'm never going back, putting up the hardware mesh and skirt were so easy with it.

Poop board - There is a slight lip with a split piece of scrap wood, but I do think you are right and we are going to have to build it up a little more to keep them from flinging stuff off.
