Announcement The Coop Page / Article Rating & Review Project!

Pics
Hi Nifty, Today when I click on the link above, I only get the list of coops I've recently reviewed. I no longer see the list of coops that still need to be rated. I don't know if that is because my account just changed to a 7 day period of PFM or what, but any help you could provide that will help me get back to the list of coops that only have 1 rating (or whatever we are currently working on) would be great!
Thanks.

Exactly that. :goodpost:

Are we finished? I can't find the link any longer and the page niftychicken made for me is empty.
Not that I'm complaining.
Not done yet! We're waiting for Nifty to update the page for us with the next load. In the meantime what you can do is click through the pages at random and rate any you haven't rated yet, especially those with under 5 ratings. That will also help a lot :)

I'm LOVING the discussion about other ways to organize the coops! The tricky part is that we're using a hierarchical organization. Here is the category structure to get to a specific coop article:

-Articles System
- - Learning Center
- - - Chicken Coops
- - - - Coop Size
- - - - - Coop Article

We technically *could* add more categories under each "coop size"... but we'd have to do that across all the categories, which would be (in my opinion) very tricky and maybe even a huge mess.

Ideally: We'd have a system where you could check off variables and do a search based on that, for example: "All SMALL coops, made from recycled materials, in Arizona".

We have a way this MIGHT work using tags. For example, this tag search for "small-coops" and "recycled coop"

(which unfortunately has zero results) :(

If this is something peeps think would be helpful, we could:
  1. Establish "official" tags for certain things (coop sizes, attributes like "Recycled" etc.)
  2. Do a HUGE cleanup to make sure there aren't duplicate tags (example, we have "medium coop" "medium-coops" "coop medium" etc.), and make sure that the "official" tags are used.
  3. Have members go through and tag the top-rated coops with appropriate tags
This is something we could be doing right now as we rate coops. In fact, if you see coops that have great features, feel free to tag them!

BTW, I didn't know members couldn't tag other's articles... so I've now enabled that!!

I'm game for #2. Tag clean up.

I'm not a software guy, just adding info and hoping it's not annoying.
When I search using tags (just now after reading your post) using recycled and medium as terms (because I'm most familiar with my own article) I get zero hits.
But when I drive down into the search tabs using recycled, medium, then I get many hits and mine is there:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/search/27754979/?q=recycled,+medium&t=ams_article&o=date

as opposed to this one:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/tags/

Thanks for this example! So, your coop article only had one tag "medium-coops", so I added "recycled coop" to it:

Now, when I search for those two things:

I get your coop as a result:
