You made it explode before i had time to react!

the fuse on most grenades of the time onlyhad a 5 second fuse. so therefore, by the time you would have looked at the grenade and the time for your brain to realize what it was, the grenade would explode.

and how does magic work?

even if you used magic as a power source, evetually, the force field would overwhelm your magic (provided i shoot evough) therefore, the forcefield would fail until the stress level would go down. you know what happened to Palpatine in Starwars III when he was trying to electricute Mace Windu and he became all wrinkley? that would happen eventually, once again; provided i shoot enough.
