Yup, pretty much.
 
I got an academic one (I haz all sorts of brainz). Not like one of those epic ones for the really smart people, but it helps.
(If in US) Get a good GPA and ACT/SAT score, BOOM. Some of the easiest and best scholarships


The other scholarships out there can be pretty hard to get, lotsa people want them!
And they are seriously dependent on all the things Eenie listed. At least here.

Plus there's the difference between a scholarship and a grant. Scholarships tend to be based on things like your GPS/ACT/SAT or special talents or circumstances, like if you're a great dancer/football player, one of your parents is a veteran, or you have a physical disability. Grants are more based on your parents' income level, how many siblings you have that will be entering college while you are still enrolled, other financial aid you're receiving from other sources, etc. At least, that's my general understanding.

I'm in class again. I'm going to be living in computer rooms for the next semester of Thursday afternoons :p

I haven't got my GFM even though I asked for it to be applied to my account two days ago... Do you think the PM just got lost or is this a hint about my standing in the eyes of BYC staff? :p (I don't think I've contributed anything about chickens for a year or two. Probably doesn't make me a very valuable member of the forum.)

I'm not particularly fussed. :p The opinions of people one has never met are not the be all and end all. I prefer to give people benefit of the doubt anyway, until proof appears otherwise.

We're doing the Engineering Method. There's apparently third year stuff in here. The technologies I've been looking up seem totally inappropriate for the scale and locality of the problem but I can make a good essay out of them. I don't even care any more, I'll just write my paper on whatever I want and then help my group research and write up on what they decide to use, which I suspect will be biogas for cooking stoves. I want to be optimistic and bank on a generator because it would be cool to go beyond stoves, but I am resigned to the impending selection of cooking stoves as the solution.

My three choices are all generators. Even if none of this information gets used in the reports... I've learned lots about generators :p
