Ray, there is no reason to be embarrassed about choosing a profession that has a gender stereotype. If women didn't push these boundries, you would have very few options in your life. You would be a seamstress, a telephone operator, a midwife, or a maid. Take advantage of the doors previous generations have opened for you.
Edited to add: I think the stay at home daughter thing is....fooey. Get an education and have a life of your own. You do not need a man to protect you. You will find you will have a stronger and happier marriage after you have achieved an independent identity of your own. A good man wants a well rounded, educated, and happy woman.
