I might also send a letter to that miss Mary woman too about the chicken keeping desire... Mind you this article was wrighten may of this year so not terribly so long ago. I mean, would they even listen to a young teenager about something like this?

I would write your letters and see what comes of it and honestly if your neighbors really don't mind and you know that for sure a small 2-3 hen flock wouldn't hurt

If you were to e-mail her and also have others that you know e-mail AND include that although you are under age to actually OWN any animal your parents are on board with wanting chickens it may actually help to change that ordinance. I would have your parents also e-mail her if they are willing. There is also the door to door petition to have all the surrounding homeowners sign giving their blessing to your house having chickens.

One thing to consider is that if your family lives in an HOA controlled neighborhood those rules would also apply. They do over rule the local ordinance in some cases. Like if the ordinance in the town says you can have a German Shepherd dog the HOA could have a rule that forbids having one in that area. There are ones here that dictate what a person can and cannot plant in their yard and what colors are allowed to be painted on the houses.

Rules are a real bummer sometimes.

These are our Salmon Faverolles! I researched and researched before deciding on these beautiful goof balls. They're not quite ready to lay or crow but fingers crossed we aren't far off!
