So, my beloved Lavi-doo-da-day
and her sisters get into so much trouble (or fun) on a daily basis that it's hard for me to just not have my mouth hanging down on the ground in awe of their daringness, stupidity and ingenuity... (not in that order) but that's just part of the joy of owning chickens! Thought I'd start this thread to share some of my dear Lavender's "adventures". I'd love to hear some of your stories as well!

To Bee or Not to Bee:

I'm watching the girls help manage my backyard weeds, when I see Lavender start doing a funny dance. Her head is bobbing around and she looks like she's eaten some forbidden species of mushroom... A closer look reveals a bee hovering above her head trying to land peacefully on the nearby rosemary bush. Well, to make things short, the last thing on this earth that poor bee saw was my darling Lavi's mug

Rip Ms. Bee... you were quite a tasty addition to today's menu.

So Much For That!

I had gone into the coop to cuddle the girls when Lavander, comes up for some cuddles and I notice a tip of her comb is a bit bloody. No problem. We use 'Hen Healer' which supposedly helps with healing and deters pecking- we just call it The Goop

I go to goop Lavi, and she her eyes go round and focused and.... goes and pecks the darn stuff right off the q-tip. She thought it was quite tasty too. So much for "deters pecking"... blue bubble gum for chickens?

GIMME!:
We have an orange tree on our property, but I've always heard that chickens don't care much for citrus so we've never bothered to offer them any. Well today, my brother decides to peel himself an orange while the flock ranges themself. (Side story, one of our non-laying pellets managed to fly herself into our pool... thank goodness we haven't added any chemicals in a while!)
Well, Lavender decided she wanted some and started jumping around like a kangaroo at a pow-wow demanding a taste for the yummy whatever-human-is-eating. Finally deciding that my knife wielding brother was taking too long to offer a piece of the yumminess, she proceeded tp hop onto my brother's arm and steal herself a chunk. She then played catch-me-if-you-can and finally she didn't like orange. Ironically, she decided to rinse her beak in my nearby tea... ginger citrus.

Needless to say, I do believe it true. Chickens, or at least mine, do not like citrus :tongue

Lol!!!! Soooo funny do you have anymore stories???

This did not just happen!!!!

I was cuddling with my chicks and Marigold decided she wanted to jump on my head sometimes the chicks would sit on my head but never for long I was about to get her off when I heard a weird sound my first thought was oh no!!!! I quickly got her off my head and put all the chicks back then very slowly started to pat my head I didn't feel anything phew!! 😅 I smoothed my hair down then gasped I looked at my hands they were coated in he stickiest smelliest poop ever!!! I ran to the bathroom to find my head coated in the same poop!!!! I jumped in the shower and washed my hair three times!!!
