Within a few hours, McKinnon was nearing the Hooliqigos territory. He landed a few miles out and stayed low, he knew his white scales would easily be seen in the night. Tomorrow during the day he would fly through the clouds, blending in and watching the Hooliqigos every move.

An outpost higher up on the mountains with a better view carefully observed the dragon through binocurals. "I see something shining and moving, but I'm not too sure what it is..." said Ulrich to the others, pointing to the dragon's barely visible figure with a gloved hand.

"Strange. Keep a close eye on it and I'll send patrols down there if the situation gets dangerous or suspicious..." replied Marc.

(Just making sure, but you got my new PM for the character lists, right?

(Yeah, I've just been too lazy to put them up

McKinnon realized he was being watched and slid further down under the cover of the tree tops. Even at night his vision was sharp, hense the reason he was a scout in the first place.

At the time, Marc was handed the binoculars. "It moved," he breathed.

One more flicker could be seen as his tail dropped below the trees, then nothing.

"Ulrich, send a dove to the hunters and tell them to check this thing out immediatley. Once they get the message meet up with them by horse and be sure to bring Dion along with you," he quietly requested.

"Yes sir," said Ulrich, before he went down from the outpost's top viewing level and into the lounge, smoke and alcohol lingering in the clouded air of the room. He approached Dion, who was speaking to the others around the hearth. "Dion, Commander Corbette has told me to take you along for a mission," he informed the young man.

Dion nodded, and stood. "Alright," he said. The two walked out of the lounge, and once they were out Ulrich sent the dove-delivered message from the nesting station to the hunters. Once that was taken care of, they went down the creaky stairwell and hopped into the frigid outdoors, right in front of their two white draft stallions, who would have been nearly invisible if it weren't for their tack and the post they were hitched to. The two warriors quickly mounted up and sped stealthily through the snow, taking great care to be unseen by the strange creature that Ulrich was explaining to Dion as they rode. After a few minutes the hunters came up over the steep slope on their giant riding cats and stopped before Dion and Ulrich, each bowing their heads humbly. "Come," Ulrich said, after briefly uncovering his scarf from his mouth to speak.

"Indeed sir," replied Gustave. Catiously, all four men rode side-by-side towards the beast they had spotted stalking them.

McKinnon felt their hoofbeats through the ground and slid into the bushes, deciding whether to fight or flee. As a scout, he wasn't trained to fight, though he knew a few basic moves. Fleeing would give them away and the element of surprise would be lost. What to do, what to do he wondered.

They stopped after hearing McKinnon slide into the bushes, close enough to feel the presence of the large creature yet far enough to be fairly safe. Ulrich took a step in front of the three others just in case. Every single man in the party stood deathly still.

By now they were close enough that McKinnon could smell them and he measured up the odds of him against four of these creatures, it wasn't on his side. Ulrich and his buddies (not sure what else to call them

) were also close enough to McKinnon to notice a small dip in temperature. Since McKinnon was a White Dragon, the air temperature around him was cold, and the closer you were, the colder it would get.

"Interesting," whispered Ulrich, motioning for those behind him to take a few small steps closer. As they inched closer and closer to the dragon, the already bitter temperature could be felt dropping because of McKinnon.

McKinnon stayed low, deciding that they were already too close for fleeing to be an option. The bushes were quite thick where he was hiding, and he blended in somewhat with the snow. Since the Hooliqigos didn't know what exactly he was, he chose a surprise attack as his best option.
