Fence staples- I HATE them. Especially the small ones for chicken wire. My fingers are too fat to hold them and hit them with a hammer without a little contact. Multiply that by a whole box worth.

Ooooh, I feel your pain! If I HAVE to use them, I hold them with needlenose pliers. More time, but far less painful!

Great avatar, btw!

I've used the needle nose pliers before to. It just takes so long that way. I guess I'm so impatient that I put up with the sore fingers to save time. I just wish they had an air (compressor) stapler that would work good for fencing. That would be one tool that would just *appear* in my work shop.

We looked for a "poultry" staple gun. They don't exist...just nail guns and staple guns. DH wanted to use his real gun...not on coop/run though. LOL.

One trick to make it easier is to tap the ends together slightly so that the staple is more U shaped than V shaped. They go in straighter. I had a problem with a box that was galvanized. They bent and folded on me. The staples that worked best were shiney and had E.G. on the label. I'm guessing E.G. is electroplated galvanized. Just a guess. I'm a female so to me they are the "shiney" ones. LOL

I went to Lowes on Friday to get some sort of hardware to attach welded wire. Whatever is was, I told the guy that I wanted to screw it. Of course, he suggested staples and now I have a black thumb nail! Count me in too! I hate staples!!!

Hey, not bad with the washers! It would probably be a little costly on larger projects but I might get a few of the smaller jobs done if I had that as an option.

Grab the fence and pull hard. If the staples hold, OK. If not, reinforce with screws and fender washers. Staple guns are not recommended for this because usually coons can pull them loose.
