At the top of the forum page there was something that said I had to down load it to get private messages from others on here - so I started the down load my screen went to fuzz and now when I go on the internet, my whole monitor screen is blurred out as if there is something greasy smeared around on the screen and can't be used. It's seriously fried. Furthermore I can't find this program now to UN-install it. What the heck??? Does this happen often here? I think I'm remembering why I never hung around here much, it's a lot of trouble to navigate and use. :/ If you can just tell me what program I'm looking for to UN-install that would be great thanks.

Run virus and malware scans. Nothing from BYC ever asks you to download it. You don't need anything to read messages on here. Most likely you picked up a virus somewhere and it tricked you when you came to a forum.

AVG or Avast are both good antivirus and free, pick one. Malwarebytes and Spybot will get some of the malware and spyware that the antivirus might miss. I run all three regularly.

We never require anything to be downloaded to use the site. I definitely suggest using a virus protection application and also scanning your computer.

If you (or anyone) sees something like this on BYC, please take a screenshot and report it immediately!

not sure how to take a screen shot but i've seen the same thing. Lately it's been a box in the top right corner saying i need to update my security and to click ok. and if i refresh the page its a normal add for chicken this and that.

A few questions:

  1. Is this on the desktop version of BYC or the mobile version?
  2. Which browser and version are you using?
  3. Is this notice in the "normal" location and size of the other ads?

My guess is that one of our ad network partners (like Google AdSense) may have someone who submitted a bad ad. If so, we'd need as much detail about the ad as possible to get it removed.

"covering an ad"? Do you mean it is literally on top of a legitimate ad, or in the position of where the ad should be?

If you can get a screenshot, that would be fantastic! http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/

Also, if you hover over the ad can you see the link in your status bar that shows where it wants to take you? Don't click on it, but just hover over it and you may be able to see the link / click url. That is vital in helping us figure out what is going on.
