These are perfectly beautiful Dany12! Any body that is concerned with the conservation of green peafowl can send 10.00 to Freidrich in Thailand. Please do.

so I guess we're moving on to discussion of Javanensis now.

There are at least two distinct races of Javanensis, the nominate Western race found in Ujung Kulon National Park and the Eastern race found in Baluran National park. Javanese Peafowl are green-crowned and have a pine green backplate. They have a brilliant golden neck. The Baluran race is a bit more intense in colouration, and tends to have more intense facial skin comparable with Imperator. It appears some birds have pale irises like annamensis.

This is a subadult bird (Resolution posted this in the first post of this thread):

Strange that this bird is found in Kedah, Malaysia. Its back is pink somewhat like Pahang but the crest gives it away..
And a female Javanensis captive in Malaysia:

It's interesting how the male sometimes postures with his neck curved onto his train as he displays.

Another thing I'm confused about is how Green and Indian Peafowl compare in display. Indian Peafowl seem to flap their wings a lot as they display, but Green Peafowl never seem to do that, they just rattle their quills every now and then...

yeah there's quite a few photos around like that :S

I couldn't find a lot of pictures of Ujung Kulon though there are some on your old site taken by Gerald Cubitt.

Here may be the oldest document on the green peafowl in Java. It dates back to 1890 , during the Dutch colonial times .... not really in color!

Dany12,
Can you please send me the colour photoes of open wings of Javanese peacock (pavo javanensis javenensis).
I had worked hard making 5 illustrations of peacocks and had putted my new illustration of black-shouldered peacock.
I am still working on my illustration of Tonkin imperator peacock (pavo imperator tonkinensis) now.

Clinton.
