I started to create a video to post on here and ask everyone what behavior this was because I've noticed it every time the ducks get into the pond.... Well, two minutes later my question was answered. Funny thing is that I see the two girls (Ducky the Pekin and Goose the Mallard) standing on each other's backs all the time, so until I saw this, I didn't know what was going on. Still not sure about the girls playing around though...

Oh my! At the beginning where the brown one pecks at the white ones back, that is what has created a sore on my girls back.

BTW, what is the mist coming out? Is that a sprinkler of some sort?

We have a misting patio set-up for the ducks and chickens to keep them cool. It's been over 100 degrees here for 3 weeks now and I'm doing everything I can to keep them cool:
Note: This pic was right before I emptied out the pool, it's icky after just a few hours! You can see that our chickens even love it! The misters go around a 7x7 area in a U shape and are pointed into the middle. We keep them going during the day hours.

awesome..run the water bill up much? My water bill is so much higher with the pools emptying, filling ,cleaning.

Naw.. I only have to turn on the faucet about a quarter of a twist. It doesn't take much pressure at all! The mist is so fine that you don't feel it unless you are right in front of a socket. But it cools that area at least 20 degrees.

Now I get it! I've just noticed my ducks doing the head bobbing thing and my drake nipping at the girls when they're in the pool. Thought maybe that's where they're headed. They're 13 weeks old now, so I guess they're just getting warmed up. Oh, and I also need a mister!
