The Duck Thread

Good... just checking...

I have 2 Silvers that don't clear out their nares regularly too... I keep an eye on them and pick out the packed mud and give them separate bath times so they clear them out completely... some Calls just need a bit more maintenance help, lol...
@RavynFallen and they are so cute who wouldn't want to help them.

This is a first for my Runners/Buffs and my Old English game bantams we're going to be in single digits with the wind chill. I went and put up old towels over their windows to help and I have a sweeter heater going. It doesn't really put out much heat though but if someone wants to stand next to it it may help.

I won't use a heat lamp though just way too many horror stories about fires.

Also mine are going to be getting whole corn and cracked right before bed time to help over night.
I can't seem to get my ducks to eat corn. Are they just picky or am I missing something?

Mine won't really eat corn either... some just don't care for it... try soaking some wheat or slightly sprout it... mine adore that!

They must be picky Mine love it if I let them that is all they would eat but it's only an afternoon treat for them. Try mixing in their feed. They might like the cracked better since it's broken up and not whole.

They are adorably adorable. Oh my gosh I feel like Julie Bird and just want to kiss those adorable bills .

After looking at this thread a bit, I just ordered the next lower thermal switch, on at 0F off at 10F. I thought I remembered on at 10F off at 20, but when I looked it up, it was on at 20 off at 30 which I admit is fairly mild weather still for a duck (Non-Muscovy.) This is more the range when they use it. My big concern is when it gets in the -20Fs, that they might be outside and take good blast of wind that starts a hypothermia cycle that they can't get out of. With the lamp they can warm back up and then take care of themselves. With this lower range, it would only be on a week or two total through the whole winter.
