The waiting!!! I guess a lot of us are in the same boat! My Metzer order should be here Monday morning. I talked to my Postman and he told me he would bring them right to me, first thing! What a luv. I thought I would h. ave to pick them up.
I found the ordering process REALLY confusing as well. In the end I messed it up somehow and ended up getting charged 2x for postage. I e-mailed them and they could not reverse the charges on my debit card without me re-sending the info through e-mail.
First: I am SO VERY uncomfortable with a lot. AND
Second: the next day the bank shut down that card because someone was shopping at forever 21 in California then tried to rent a hotel room in Illinois. Another lovely case of stolen number. I was so mad, but we got that Ironed out.
So I e-mailed them again and asked them to just put Gro-gel in with all of them to off set the balance.
The person on the other end of the computer was very understanding and accommodating, They were quick to reply and even offered sympathy for my CC issues. That is the extent of my knowledge working with them so far. So far, I would work with them again.
The waiting [IMG] LOL At least it gives me a bit of time to finish setting up the brooder again & bond with my two 3wk old Pekin.
One has started eating out of my hand yesterday. I so happy. They do stay close when Im gardening now as well, so maybe they dont completely hate me [IMG]

I also got confused and had to call, but they were super helpful.

    Can't wait to see pics!
I really like the grow gel and think it really helps.
Those girls are all from Metzer. My blue is super sweet and has always been the friendliest out of the group. She is however the loudest too...
    Thank you

They've been absolutely great, from the first time I called to change my order (NO DRAKES) to this morning when I called all worried about the babies. Super understanding and patient, even though I would imagine they're busy as hell. And they picked up on the second ring.

There is no way to tell at this age except by vent sexing. Did you order only females or did you do straight run?

Hello everyone! So i'm planning on raising ducklings this spring/summer, and just had a few questions for anyone willing to answer:

Ok so i'm still debating whether i should order hatching eggs, or simply the ducklings themselves. I'm keeping them as pets, so i want to have a strong bond with them, so would ordering ducklings weaken that?

Also, what is the best time to order the eggs/ducklings? I want to order from Metzer farms, so would i want to place an order pretty soon? Like do they have a limited supply/waiting list? And are you able to place an order for ducklings to be shipped in the next month or two?

And finally my last question (for now at least) i was looking into the breeds Pekin and Black Swedish, does anyone have any insight or comments i should know about these breeds? Do they get along alright? Would it be okay to have 3 of each or do i need an even number?

I think hatching them your self creates a great bond... I'm not crazy lol I talked to my eggs near the end of the hatch... I said duck a lot in a baby talk tone... They recognized the call from day one... My only duckling experience though.
