The Duck Thread

Female ducks are usually harder to cons by and are worth money. You may have better luck running 2 flocks one of your breeding trio and another bachelor flock of 2 males.
that would be cool, if i had a breeding trio. I have my cayuga breeding pair( that i am trying to keep pure) and a lone saxony drake. The saxony drake, nibbles, is the one im in search of a female for. Breed is no problem. I use to have thirty ducks. Ten pure bred pekins, and the rest a result of a wild mallard making my pond home, and my matriark hen his love. They where half white pwkin half wild mallard. I loved all 20 offspring. I hatched only four. She hatched the rest. Shortly after i penned up the pure pekins( except for the pekin who bred with wild stock). Thwy lived a long happy life. The mallard stayed and never migrated. He became slightly domestic. But i never pit him in a pen. Him and my ducky made lovely young. Mallards with irregular white patches.

Mallards crossed with something. No matter, and who cares unless you're breeding for show. Very sweet. I hope you find a mate for your Saxony. They're beautiful.

the black broody hen in the last picture. Is this a broody cayuga duck. All accounts from google search said mine wouldnt brood. Will she?

I am new to ducks. What are the ones in pictures 2,4 & 5?

***oops quoted wrong post lol****

But did want to ask what state are you in? I was also looking for more duck hens. I found several livestock groups on Facebook and you could check to see if there are any livestock auctions near you.

So I set 36 eggs last month. 5 cracked, was hopeful for 7 of them but nothing hatched. So we decided to try again. Set 34 last night, 21 from our flock and 13 from a friend. I don't think the last set was fully fertile but didnt want to crack them to check.

none on there. Sadly craigslist produced no love for my baby

I do know of a member in Texas who has Muscovy's but have you looked here on BYC we have a rehoming thread and a Buy Sell Trade thread plus there is the option of going on your state thread which is found at Where am I where are you.
