I would separate them. Plastic poultry fence has worked for me, as have puppy playpen fencing.

Glad to hear your taking her, look forward to hear what the vet says. and treatment. We're going to the vet tomorrow at 9 am for an x-ray to see whassup. She is eating good but still limping. I'll let you know what the vet says.
One of my Black Swedish has been injured. Not sure what is wrong exactly. She is limping very badly. I think it is her hip. It is swollen at the hip; leg/foot seems fine. I can touch it and feel a big "egg" on her hip that wasn't there last night (she was injured last night too) so it is just now swelling I guess. Not sure if she dislocated the joint, broke her hip or what. She is eating and laid an egg this morning, but she can barely walk.![]()
Wow wonder how she did it? I sure hope it heals now and she lays that egg too. please keep us updated..Trip to the vet and an x-ray. Her leg is broken (like thigh). She's home resting and hopefully it will heal okay. The vet never had a duck in his office before. Bless his heart. He and his team did good with her. He wasn't sure if he should pin it or splint it. So for now she is home resting and just had her green pea treat. The x-ray showed an egg and he was all upset, "what is that?!" I wish she would have laid it for them. I would have given it to him!

It may take her a while to recover, any way you can get another storage container ? let us know how she is coping with the splint and recovery. They are amazing animals and given time can recover well.Well, she laid the egg today. We go back to the vet in the morning for the splint. I'll bring that that egg plus others for them. Not sure how she broke her leg but it is a pretty bad break. The vet had to do some research and make some calls to figure out what to do for her. He thinks she will heal okay; just will take some time. I have 17 one-week old baby chicks in the basement and miss duck is in the place where the chicks were supposed to go so I hope miss duck heals quickly so I can move the chicks out. The chick brooder isn't big enough for them to stay in for more than a few weeks (50 gallon plastic storage tub).
