Okay, I would like to rescind what I said earlier about my experience with the Rouen breed. The more time goes on, the more I think I have had mallards, not Rouens. So O cannot give a good opinion on the Rouen breed. Sorry.

Suzy4027 and Debs Flock, love your babies!

Funny side note - I had a dream last night that I found curly tail feathers on two of my ducks. I was like, "Noooooo!" :p Hahaha.

Hahaha.

Thanks @RedIII ! Metzer Farm's website has this duck breed comparison grid that I like. From my own limited experience and what I've read, Rouens are calm, quiet compared to my Pekins & seem to be more sure on their feet, too. They seem to be a bit more timid as well. Lovely ducks, of course!

LOL...love the fact you're dreaming of feathers/ducks!

wish I had known that when we took a lone duckling home with our chicks, felt sorry for it and didn't realize it was a breed that was crossed with godzilla lol, she was very bossy until we got a rooster.

by the way she is a Blue Swedish, but boy was she a good momma even from baby, only problem now is how do I get her to quit trying to take the chicks swimming with her, she calls to them and they follow lol.

That is scary I have read of chicks drowning from following mama duck into pool etc.

pool is small compared to the pond we have, so far have only lost a 3 day old chick in the brooder to trying to play duck thank heavens, now the duck can call but the rooster makes the pullets stay where they are free ranging for the most part. got the one amerecuana or however it's spelled that is stuck to the duck still like superglue but he has wisened up and stays up on the bank at least

these precious birds are so amazing.

Oh, joy!  Freckled bills are adorable!!  Thanks for sharing @WVduckchick
.

All, I just wanted to share something kind of handy because I was reading yesterday that at least a few people are bucketing out the water from kiddie pools.  We bought a basic kitchen drain for $11.  Used a utility knife to cut a circle in the pool and screwed on the drain.  It works perfectly.  I just pull the drain so no dumping, bucketing, etc.  The pool has to be a bit elevated under the drain for it to work/sit right on the ground.
That is an awesome setup you fashioned Debs.

Yea he eats fine. Charlie's a pig and JoJo is submissive but he's getting enough. A lil bit ago I had JoJo and charlie in their pool and my daughter in her own baby pool out in the yard. They were loving it. The ducks were crazy happy, same pool as always but they were frantically going under water and in fast circles, etc. It was hilarious. Point being Charlie has done this but not JoJo. When they were soaked they would fluff out their feathers and spread and flap their wings, first time for JoJo and I was so happy for him especially since it was worrying me and I just mentioned it. Since all the advice, he's been great. No episodes but its only been a few days, I'm praying he stays strong! So far he's good! Im trying to find out why people give ducks Apple cider vinegar, I'm new to this and I have no idea. Do u know?
@WVduckchick LOL...if I'm lucky, I have either all females, 1 male & 3 females or all males so I won't have to add any. I sure couldn't get rid of any. Look at those babies! :love
Eeeeee, sweet little cute little fuzzy little ducklets near and in the basin dipping their bills and webs.
