The Duck Thread

Hello again there is another egg in the ducks nest. She covers them (now 17) with straw but hasn't been sitting consistently. I'm curious, if I take an egg out to see if it's fertile which should I do crack it open or candle it. I'm confused my thinking is that any egg would go bad if outside in our 95 degree Texas weather even if just a day how can eggs that are two or more weeks old not rotten?

It's to early to tell yet, give him more time, I have see several eggs do this and all of a suddenly the last week BOOM, they  fill up those eggs.  Come closer to the due date, then yes it's possible he could be a sticky baby.  I would do one of the two things, either less humidity or more Spraying/misting.

I'm new to everything .. Including lingo etc. Don't laugh too hard but what is sticky baby

Once a day is fine for scrambled egg's .. All my baby's get the egg's M-W-F normally and it sure helps keep them healthy and It really cut's down on any medical problems ...... Here are my goslings this morning enjoying egg's and waffles , it was very tricky to get this shot as everyone keeps getting in the way and when I open the door the goslings take off for momma goose's protection :barnie Ok, I'm getting ducklings on Tuesday and I'm trying to gather and absorb as much info as possible. Eggs? Raw? For ducklings? Do ducklings benefit from Apple cider like chicks? gander007 :old

The babies look like KC such pretty color.

There's nothing to laugh about and I'm glad you asked

There are four issues that can cause problems while incubator if one of those four things occur. It affects the growth of the embryo causing them to develop a thick yellow gooey substance. Once this substance is created there's not a lot you can do to get it out and saving him is very slim. what happens to the baby is it restricts them from growing, they are usually covered with it and end up suffocating because they can't escape, they can't move around to get away from it. because it's inside the shell with them. You can't just open the egg dig it out and hope for the best. Usually the number one cause is high humidity. Which is what I am experiencing right now.
