The Duck Thread

If only kid's had the freedom we all had, we wouldn't so many problems with the younger generation.. In my opion.. My DH has the best stories of streaking naked threw the streets with his friends.. He tells the story to our boy's friends that come over & every time I laugh so hard my cheeks hurt.. But now you would be a pedophile, which I completely understand.. He even tells the story of when they would go to other neighbors homes and eat from their garden.. Plus the times they would use fishing wire and tie up cans full of rock's.. Wait for a car to drive by on a long stretch road, each person would be hiding in a bush on opposite sides of the street.. Hold the wire, with the cans at bumper length & off it went.. I guess they got a kick out of that..
We camp & no cell or tablets at all!! We all talk and hike, cliff jump, & mountain bike riding trails...Ect.. This is one of the cliffs we had fun jumping off of..

Love that Pic

Little one broke through the membrane this am. Went through too many blood vessels. Still not sure what the yellow was, yolk was fully intact... No yolk had been absorbed. Thank yo for trying. It's much appreciated.

Ok, sounds like he may have gotten a tab bit sticky for him not to absorb that yellow stuff is probably what caused him, it basically blocked him from doing anything.

I wonder if he's still alive though because we could save him. If not, I'm sorry for your lost but once they get that nasty stuff it is very hard to save them and you would need a LOT of time, Patience's and he would need the wiliness.

WOW, Wait is he still alive??
No, tore a huge rip and bled out fast. Te yellow stuff was clear yellow, if that makes sense. There was very little of it. I'm more curious why he tried to hatch so early. My temps, triple thermometers, are right on. Humidity good. Nares clear, positioned well.

Do you have another thermometer or can you buy one?  Walmart, TSC, anywhere like that has some for under $10.  I would get one with a hygrometer also.  Then do a google search to find ways to test it for accuracy.  Depending on the kind you get, there are different ways to test.  Maybe even do the google search first... that way, when you are looking at them in the store, you can determine if it will be easy enough to test.  Old mercury thermometers are very accurate, if you happen to have one, but I don't think they make them with mercury anymore.  I ordered a Brinsea Spot Check that is very accurate.  Less than $20.
I bought an AcuRite Digital Humidity and Temperature Monitor from Walmart for $9. Now to test and make some notes. Hatching is a summer project with my 4 year old and my mom is begging for Cauygas and a few chickens of her own. Should I candle duck eggs today is day 7

Normal sized. Completely formed. Absolutely perfect. No damage to the yolk. I'm really baffled. The beak was through the center of the air cell through the shell. I had just peeked through the window, walked away, came right back for my keys and happend to glance in again. Beak was pushed through and blood was pooling around the hole.
