The Duck Thread

She was a ways away from the broody - I guess I should specify that the structure that the broody is in is actually the bottom of an old coop, and is 4' by 8'. The khaki I found dead at the entrance. The pekin is brooding way at the back, eight feet away. Perhaps she did kill her and did it at the mouth of the coop. I would have thought she'd have some injuries, though. Not even her feathers are messed up.

I am prepared to separate the broody and her ducklings when they hatch - the old coop and its run are actually in my new coop's run - I just left its run open to allow the birds more space, and she decided to nest in the old bottom half of the coop. I think I have some pictures so people can understand what I mean, let me see...

Excuse the construction mess, the big wire thing in the front is a run I was putting up for a different coop. The purple and white structure in the background of this picture - the bottom half of it was my old duck coop. That's where she is. When the babies hatch I'll just be closing up the old run to keep them in. For now I leave it open so she can get out and get to the yard when she's off the nest.

I tried psych, couldn't get into it. Cheers, only because my other 200 channels are infomercials and news!!!!! One of my secret favorites is Rosanne! (Shhh, don't tell!) there's a BBC show called Upstairs Downstairs that I even bought, I loved it so much!!!
I like that show too, but, one of my ultimate BBC favorites is Dr. Who. I used to watch it years and years ago, when I was a kid, on PBS. I really wish our public TV would start playing "Are you being served" again. Loved that show!

Are You Being Served.... I haven't seen that in a few years!! I used to love that! I like Dr Who, but only when they're having a marathon... I don't get to watch it very often, so I need a bunch of episodes to follow what's going on!

I just noticed that one of our girls is "hanging a bit low". Not sure if this is a "normal" duck figure or not. She is eating, walking & drinking fine, not surr about poop because they free range all day. Can anyone help?

She may be in the process of getting ready to lay an egg. Keep an eye on her and if she suddenly loses weight enjoy the egg hunt.
