Aren't they? LOL...I'll let them know that you think so, too.

:( :( :(

So I have a small flock of muscovy ducks, a mystery duck (mostly brown, buff maybe, dont know) and a crested white

One of the myscovy females has been sitting on some eggs for about 4 weeks now.

3 days ago one of them hatched. It was a female
I am have many vision problems and hadn't noticed a big hole on the mesh that covers the lattice door.

My family had noticed a while ago but they don't know much about animals at all and didn't think it was a big deal.

Needless to say the duckling is gone. Our guard dog was left outside of the farm animal area last night and, after noticing that the duckling was missing my hubby spotted a giant rat messing around near by the coop :(

I have never candeled eggs before but I looked at some references online and tried candeling the rest of the eggs.

Three of them are completely dark, not see through at all, another one looks healthy with the air pocket and all, another one looks weird. Like I can see the white and there is an air pocket but there is a darker very liquidy looking part.

Is there still a chance some of them will hatch even if it has been 3 days since the first one hatched?

My understanding is that Muscovy eggs take around 35 days to hatch, not the roughly 28 days of most other Mallard-derived ducks. I've even had a clutch from a Khaki Campbell where there was a 3 day spread in the hatching, so I'd say yes, it's very possible.

Thanks for the reply

I hope they do hatch. I'm so bummed about the missing duckling

I don't know if they are just muscovy or mixed. The crested white and mystery duck are drakes and I also have a muscovy drake.

I figure 3 Males for 5 females is too much so i ordered some female blue sweedish ducklings.

If they don't hatch could i replace the eggs with the ducklings i ordered? Will mama duck care for them?

This is mama duck. Her name is Rambo
