Does anyone's duck get excessively loud when molting? Rocky will not SHUT UP and is quacking ALL freakin' day. This started as soon as her new feathers started to come in. She has always been a talker but this is just too much and I am starting to wondering when my neighbors will say something.

Possible yes, but drakes and hens don't mix very well. I have chickens and ducks that are all females and it works but they have separate houses and free range my backyard during the day.

I don't to worry you, but are you sure there isn't something else wrong? I can't remember any of our ducks or drakes ever being more vocal while they were molting. Is this one a Call or another breed?

No she is just a talkative Cayuga. She is one that I was tube feeding and wasn't quacking for a while. I believe she had gape worms and was wormed. She has been putting on weight and recovered but now is going through a hard molt. I highly doubt something else is wrong with her at this point.

Ah. I was just wondering because you said something about the noise and the neighbors. Maybe others will say they've had the same experience with molting. I've never noticed any of ours behaving differently.
